Congrats KJ!

I know how much you have been anticipating the wait.

I'm happy for you.  I sure hope you get to shoot it soon.

Thanks, Reinz and to all others; hope to get to the range in the next few days, if not, to the woodpile in Ga. after Thanksgiving; I did load a mag up today; very easy to do; mags load from the back, nose first.

I'm wondering if anybody has actual pictures comparing the R9 vs the Boberg.  Like an overlay and a side-by-side?

Also, the bullet issue.   Not sure this as major of issue as this thread is making it out to be.  I know on the 340PD there have been problems with being setback and even set forward; yet, most people are more concerned about the lock.  Just keep that in mind (IMO).

There are overlays on the Boberg site.
Mine #164 shipped last Thursday and still waiting for USPS to do their job.
Should be fun to try it out.

Heber_Guy,

Yes, I saw the "overlays" on the sight, but they were not real pictures when I looked last.   They were "CAD-like" drawings.   Looking at a few pics of the real McCoy vs an R9 (not overlayed) on here, the Boberg looks significantly larger.  Just wanting to see an ACTUAL picture of an overlay and a side-by-side (vertical, rear view pic).    With pocket carry, a little bigger turns out to be a LOT bigger in my opinion.

Thanks.

The  woodpile just saw activity just now.  Shot the #78 Boberg 50 rds in rapid succession as fast as the trigger could be pulled.  Recoil is nothing and I could shoot this little jewel all day.  I was shooting at about 30 feet from the woodpile and rds were hitting in the center of the pile as no targets were placed; forgot to bring them.

This thing is a joy to shoot, as for me, is the Rohrbaugh.  No need for a cool down at any point; shot 50 rds of 115 gr. Gold Dots and the box was gone in no time.  The mags are easy to load.  Loaded up both mags, racked one to the chamber, replaced that rd and within seconds the Boberg was empty; changed mags and fired away eight more rds.......gun empty.  Did this till the box was all.  Muzzle flip is almost non-existant.

As stated, this was rapid firing for all 50 rds.  Couldn't ask for better performance.   Hot diggity dog!  Get one!    ;D

AT.  Email Arne Boberg and tell him you want on the list; arne@bobergarms.com.  May be awhile, but at least you'll be on the list.  This is one awesome pistol; along with the Rohrbaugh, of course.

Just thought.  There's a better way.  The web site now has a preorder form.  You can signup online.

Just got a call from Boberg customer service. The lady said that it looked like my gun was about ten months out. I signed up 10/14/2011. I will say this, Boberg has the best customer service people anywhere! I called this morning and talked to a lady who  said  that she was there alone, but later in the day when more help showed up that she would try to figure it out and give me a ballpark figure, but that it might be late when she returned my call. To be truthful I thought she was just shinin' me on. But sure enough, about four hours later she called with the information and can she be of any more help, etc, etc. It's nice when people do what they say they'll do. Way to go Boberg!            Gene

AmmoToad:

Actually, you can go ahead and spend THIS years Christmas savings...  With roughly 700 names on the list (ahead of yours) it'll be about this time NEXT Christmas before your name reaches the top..   ;)

Guess if all goes well the "birdman" and myself might be the proud owners of new Boberg XR9-S's
about the same time, I believe I'm about a week ahead of him.  (10/7 vs 10/14)

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Good info on the wait times Jessie and Birdman...  I'll press the test with my FFL, they have gotten me everthing else why ahead of the rest.  I had a SOLO (already sold it) for quite some time before other dealers had even seen one, same with the Ruger SR1911.  Probably different with the Boberg, but it'll give me something to rib my FFL about if they cannot come through...either way, it sounds like a winner.  If KJ says it's a good one, that's good enough for me....

Hi AT:

I could be wrong, but AT THIS TIME I don't believe your FFL dealer can do ANYTHING to get you a Boberg XR9-S other than to put HIS name on the pre-order list, and when HIS name comes to the top of the list and he gets to buy his Boberg @$949.00, which he can then sell to you, after adding whatever profit he needs to make on the sale.

Or, right now anyway, the Boberg XR9-S is sold directly to the buyer (ANY BUYER) from the factory at the pre-order price of $949.00.

Buying directly from the manufacturer (at least in my case), and having the XR9-S shipped directly to my FFL transfer dealer (who only charges me $25 for each transaction or transfer) means I do NOT have to pay the Ga. State tax of $66.50 ($950.00 X7%).  Nor does my dealer have to mark up the price HE has to pay for the XR9-S ($949) to make a profit.  (Which any dealer would reasonably be expected to do).

I respectfully suggest if you really want to get in line as quickly as possible, going over to the site (www.bobergarms.com) and putting you own name on the list is the way to go.

Just a suggestion, not trying to get in your "bidness".   :)

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Hi Gene,

Probably not..

But then again, I have roughly 20 pistols/revolvers, numerous rifles and shotguns, so I'm "good to go" anyway..   :)

I'm guessing our names will float to the top of the pre-order list in mid summer 2012..  I think the lady at Boberg Arms was being conservative in her guess-timate as to when we could reasonably get excited...

I'd much rather her tell us "September  2012" and surprise us with earlier delivery than tell us "mid summer 2012" and for some reason not be able to deliver at that time.

I just multiplied a monthly production figure on the low side of 60, times 7 (which is about where you and I are on the pre-order list) and mid-summer 2012 comes up.  Of course this is assuming 100% of folks on the list above our names actually buy when they get the call.  And there are no unexpected delays in production (parts shortage, such as they are experiencing now)  that slows down that mfg per mo  production number.

Of course, in the meantime,  I'll be back to www.bobergarms.com checking the pre-order list on a regular basis.  :)

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I have been enjoying my new Boberg for about 2 weeks now and must say if the budget allows buy one.
Mine is #164 and eats all ammo but S&B which it does not always go into battery when using. This problem has been identified by Arne and is discussed here http://www.bobergarms.com/forum/topics/notice-firing-pin-safety-springs
Rohrbaugh vs Boberg, man I just about don't want to go there but there are plus's for both and I don't have a definitive answer only some feelings.
I have arthritic hands and have never truly enjoyed shooting the Rohrbaugh because of this problem but believed in shoot a little and carry a lot with the idea I won't feel the pain in my hands shooting the Rohrbaugh in an emergency.
The Boberg's recoil is as reported very very mild even with +P and with the arthritic hands I can shoot it all day. It is easier to shoot accurately because of the sights but both pistols are accurate.
When does a little mean a lot? When it is in the size of a pocket pistol it means a lot. The Boberg is just enough bigger to be more difficult for me to take in and out of my pocket[remember arthritis] and weighs just enough more to notice.
So what am I going to do? I will continue to carry the Rohrbaugh in most situations were size matters for me and carry the Boberg when it does not.
Both of these manufacturers should be proud of their products and I feel privileged to own both.
I hope all of you can add a Boberg to go along with your Rohrbaughs and enjoy both as I am.
Heber Guy

Laser...great info and I would bet you are right...FFL didn't know what I was talking about...

Heber...welcome to the forum and thanks for the posting...sounds like a winner to me....  KJ seems to like his so I'll be in line for one based on the feedback here....

AT. Yep, I really do like mine.  I could say love, but not suppose to love objects, so I really do like it.  I'll add;  it has that good feel.

Al.  Congrats on getting your Boberg and thanks for the info on the spring.  I'm not sure if mine has the tong type, but I'll be checking; everything seems to be working fine and couldn't have asked for better performance on the 115 gr. Gold Dots and didn't feel the hard spot at the end of the trigger pull.  Thanks again for the info and enjoy yours.

Well after long, and I mean long thought about purchasing this exciting new 9mm I too have added my name to the long list. Now I need to just keep my mind off of receiving it because I am sure it is going to be a year before I might be towards the top of the list.

From the pics I have seen of the Boberg it was not overly appealing to me, it did look a little better in person but after holding it and looking it over, it still didn't make my want to buy list.

Worth a try....I've been on the list for over a week.  R-9 is still my primary sometimes and always my backup.  Will try the Boberg for times when the Kimber CDPII is a little too big for primary carry.
