Magazine Floorplate trick
« on: July 25, 2004, 03:21:56 PM »
I noticed some people commenting on how the floorplate of the magazines can push itself forward when the latch goes to lock the mag in place.
I had this happen quite frequently and after considering the construction the answer became clear.
Remove the floor plate and there is a small peice of metal at the bottom of the mag spring, it has the detent on it that is supposed to hold the floorplate in place, if you notice that it has a slight upward bend to it, this bend engages the front of the mag body and is supposed to prevent the floorpalte from moving. On most of the examples I have seen the bend is too slight and it rides under the mag body allowing slipage, put the bent part on a firm surface and SLIGHTLY increase the angle of the bend replace and check to see if you got it right.
Thats all there is to it.
