OK...as mentioned in another thread, in order to get this out of a hijack situation of said thread, here we are....
I will start working on a system for creating custom work orders for you guys to convey your box parameters. It will also give pricing break downs for all the different options.
We curently have about 4 or 5 boxes done and I will post some pics in the next few days.
Also, as mentioned in that "other" thread, we will make special attempts at making the first ten boxes for R9s unique in some way. A part of the proceeds will go to the forum and the first ten buyers will receive discounts. If you want to jump on this opportunity, place a response here in this thread and I will contact you via PM or e-mail. All boxes will require deposits for once started, your box will be unique and may not be desired by another if deals fall through. Sorry, but I see no other way around this. I don't think we should have a problem here however.
Stay tuned for more info...
Thanks a Mil !
Tom

-
OK...thats two of ten...!
I am going to PM you two with my number...please give me a call at your convenience.
Tks

I'm in Tom, my e mail address in dnpavia@msn.com. Maybe you could number the box to the serial number of the R9?

Exactly, Dino! I've asked that "R9 No. 132" be emblazoned somewhere aesthetically placed under the Rohrbaugh Crest on a box made of spalted maple. 8)
-
Richard would you design mine please? I have no idea what
splated maple looks like but I like the way it sounds!

Dino:
Spalted maple is "wild and crazy stuff." Here's a link to some photos:

Very nice Richard, I have seen it before but just din't know what it was.
Thanks!
-
"Spalted" is just another word for "dirty wood"... ;D

Couple of other items:
I am almost done with the "order forms" so you guys can ponder your options for the box parameters. I will email them out over the weekend or on monday morning. You will just fill them out the best you can and send them back. I will then call you to go over your order and confirm then determnine amounts of deposits required.
O/T.. RichardS, you have a twin on one of the audio forums with the same username unless its you?

Enigma:
I'm not a member of any of the audio forums -- but I'm a Gemini, so if he's 5'11" tall, 167 lbs., with green eyes and a full head of blond hair going gray at the temples, he could be that "evil twin" I'm supposed to have somewhere out there. ;)

I think I would like one of these boxes too please!
Corey
-
Corey! Only one! Your pups would have to take turns. What about your Seecamps? ;D
-
Tom, never received an email, dnpavia@msn.com please send order form.
I want to get mine in before Richard takes all the good wood!
-
I may want to check one out also.. 8)

Lord have mercy! I've been snoozing. (Ya snooze, ya lose.) ;D

OK...back in the saddle again as to these boxes. I have built up a spreadsheet for me to compile specifics to each build however, due to all the various parameters and options available, I am thinking that I will need to converse telephonically with each of you. Trying to "converse" in e-mails and / or text or other typing means will drive us crazy. So therefore I will e-mail or PM each of you with my contact number so that we may discuss your project. I will then take this info and put it into an order confirmation e-mail and fire it off to you for approval. You will be then required to print out the order, sign it and send in the deposit rerquired at the bottom of the form. PayPal is now set up for this and checks are Ok to but your materials will not be ordered until funds clear. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Also, in another thread, some of you are inquiring to grips. If you are looking for a set of custom grips, please remind me when we talk. If you want grips to match your box material, that can be done as well. However, be advised that "animal" related materials will not be incorporated into boxes unless it is some sort of "inlay" only. Unless Richard can come up with a source for Mammoth pelvic bones! ;D Any member who wants these exotics inlayed will need to provide the material as unfortunately I do not have time to "source" it.
I will be sending this contact info to all who have replied in this box thead right now.
Thanks
Tom

I have PM'd all in this thread with a number to call. Please, if you get a VM box, leave a number to call you back as I may be running something loud and not hear your call...
Thanks again

Thank you, Tom. I'll try to reach you by telephone today before heading off to the cabin for a long weekend (one of the benefits of semi-retirement and limiting a law practice to appellate work -- cleaning up the mistakes of others. 8) )
-
Richard,
If the weather up your way is going to be anything like the forcast for here, you should have a fine long weekend at Critter Creek.
Are you a member of the TGO forum?
If not here is a link if you want to check it out.

Enjoy

John:
Thank you for the link to TGO. I've been considering joining that Forum, and may well do so. I'ts a worthy cause. I've just become so settled in around here that I don't seem to post as much on the other sites as I used to do.
Anyway, I'm off to the mountains to be with the "critters." A black bear wandered through a couple of weeks ago and the first hummingbird came early last week.

UPDATE:
4 of the 10 snatched up, 6 remaining
Corey: Per your PM...I will work with you on your box if you want one. You are a "plank owner" here.
Brenden?
We are also starting to get some requests for other pistol types as well so if you would rather have something for another variety just let me know (1911s, P7s etc)
Also for you that are members of the Seecamp "camp", if one of you would like to drop a note over there or a link here I would appreciate it. I do not own a Seecamp and never became a member over there and it would look bad to join just to offer a box!
Tks all

Tom I put up a link to this thread on the Seecamp forum for you. Those are some great, great folks over their and are very proud of their guns so I bet a couple will be interested in your boxes.
I'll call you tomorrow about my box. I think 141 & R141 would look good in a double box.
-
Tom, never received an email, dnpavia@msn.com please send order form.

Dino:
I finally settled on walnut and placed my order, but Tom still has a lot of wood on hand. 8)
-
Thanks Richard, I placed my order last week. I have now been reduced to the likes of a little kid a week before Christmas, can't wait, can't wait......

Look forward to the call....

Corey has been reserved number 5 of 10....
He's on the fence as to what he wants...he said to me something about making it from Ga. Pecan wood.. ;D
-
Corey. Good for you. I thought, though, you would need a bunch of boxes. You know, you have to treat them the same. ;D
-
Yeah, he is having one box for all of them... ;)
-
One great big one, huh! ;D Plus the double box for the 141 and R141, but wait, that would be 6. Oh, well!
-
Yeah, he is having one box for all of them... ;)
"Steamer Trunk" edition? ;)
-
P7. Ya got enough wood for that one? ;D

Brenden?
I am still in the hospital,so my decision making is not the greatest at the moment!
I have no idea when I'll be sprung.
Being a 'planker' I am still very interested..

While searching for wood types for my gun box I found this site. It is helpfull to me and I thought it would be helpfull to you guys too.

That is helpful. Thanks!
-
P7. Ya got enough wood for that one? ;D
Really....good thing we also have a Woodmizer sawmill!
-
Per a commo with Corey, here is what lased logos look like on Walnut...this is the trophy build while it was in progress for the Best Ranger Competition held in Ft Benning.

A different angle in different light....you can see cocobolo "feet" in this shot as well. Cocobolo and walnut seem to "marry" well cosmetically. Sorry, this shot was blurry for some reason....yeah, probably operator error!

Excellent workmanship there, P7. That is some good looking wood.
-
That does look pretty cool. I can't wait to see some of the finished boxes! Please post pictures as you finish some.
-
"yes boss!"

As R. J. Hedley used to say, "Watch this space." 8)

And I'll be watching, for sure! ;)
