Title: New owner/purchased used
Post by: Covert23 on July 09, 2014, 02:50:34 PM
I've been following the forum for the past few months and it's been very informative, so thank you!  I purchased my 2-toned R9 this past Dec from a transfer at Cabella's with TX to MO.  I sent it to Robar for NP3 coating and should recieve it back within the next few days.  I had some issues with the sear spring but i am hoping it's something Robar can fix while being treated.  I've seen numerous threads regarding the sear spring/grips/too tight/loose etc.....  My question is, would I be better off in purchasing a new spring as the the used weapon (spring) may have been damaged?  Thanks!

What issue did you have with the trigger sear spring?

The sear spring kept on popping off.  I'm not sure if it's the new VZ grips I purchased or if the spring itself is disfigured.  I've looked at numerous photos online and can't see any difference between mine and others.  Thank you for the response.

That is a very common occurrence and can be very frustrating. All that has to be done is to slightly open the loop manually with a small flat head screwdriver and it will fit on the post and stay there. I suspect Robar will do that for you if you discuss it with them. They probably already know about it.

I would love to see some good pictures when you'll get it back.  Inside and out.  Also, would like to hear your opinion about refinish. Thank you.

Will do Svarog.  They gave me a return date of July 14th give or take a few days.

This can occur with VZ's wonderful grips. It's rare, but it does occasionally happen.

Thanks Douglas.  I'll have to put the old ones back on for now and hopefully purchase some from Rohrbaugh if and when they get back up and running.

Beautiful work and it looks like the VZ grips are functioning properly. What was the price and turn around time from Robar?

Total was $321.00 excluding shipping for NP3.  I sent it 13 May 14 and got it back yesterday the 15th.  They really did an awesome job.  I like the dull steel look as opposed to a shiny look.  It's strange too because it has a silky feel to it.  I'll update once I'm able to shoot it.

Beautiful work they did! R9 looks gorgeous. Seems like they refinished a mag and a barrel also, right? How is inside?  Overall nice! Thank you for shearing a pictures.

Yep. Internals and barrel were done. I'll break it down and post some pics soon. Really impressed by the work they do. I recently bought a walther p5 and was thinking about getting it re-blued. It's really just holster wear so not sure if it will ruin the overall appeal.
