Title: Boeshield
Post by: Dire_Straits on January 10, 2013, 10:55:39 AM
Does anyone here use Boeshield? I recently purchased a bottle and I'm tempted to try it on my R9 (which I carry daily).

Would Boeshield be suitable for this application?

I have "heard" that because it has paraffin in it, you must be careful to remove it from the barrel and chamber before firing. I have read that paraffin in the chamber can put more pressure on the breech/slide face. On a Rohrbaugh I would think this is to be avoided at all cost. It also leaves a tacky feel to the firearm once the carrier has evaporated and left the waxy coating. Some folks at the range rave about its use in storage, but none use it as a lubricant on a firearm they shoot regularly. I use it exclusively on my bike chain because of its moisture and anti-rust properties. Personally, I like FrogLube on my handguns.  ;D
