Chris: Nice crimson! Don't you just love the SP-101! It is truly the all-purpose gun for Home/Car/Boat/Self/Wood, etc.

Beautiful pictures.  They look big next to the R9.

I put my Glock 36 (45 auto) on the  night stand tonight, and it looked like a giant, compared to the P3AT.

My R9S is expected later this month.  Can hardly wait.

Just wondering what attracted you guys to the little 9mm revolver?

I picked up a Taurus M905CH (chambered in 9mm) a while back -- simply as something different. For less than $300 it isn't a bad little gun.

However, if I can find the M905ICH/SH (also chambered in 9mm) -- I'd quickly trade up to it.  The smaller size and total titanium construction is attractive to me.

These little beasts loaded with the Corbon DPX 115gr. 9mm+P will be quite the back-up pistol.

One issue I do have -- I expected my cartridges to snap into the stellar clips and stay there -- kinda like a speed loader.  However, the DPX loads easily fall out of the clip.  Thinking about "adjusting" the ears on the stellar clip but will wait until I order another package of 5.

Scuba: Nice Taurus! Many many moons ago, as a college student,  I walked into a gun shop/range for the 1st time and the owner convinced me to buy a used model-85 to start with. "It don't cost much and it shoots good!" It was my 1st gun and I was just turning 18. I still have it, I'm still broke, and it still shoots good. Taurus came a long way, though.

The things I like about the 9mm SP-101 revolver are:

1. First, it's an SP-101: Ruger designed it just right, IMHO!

      * As tough as steel! (Haven't heard of anyone breaking it, yet.)

      * Right sized: between a J and K S/W frame

      * An all-purpose defensive gun: For truck/car/home/boat/self/office/wood...

      * You, the customer, have a choice: choose your own calibre!

      * You have more choices: choose your barrel length

      * And more choices: DA or DAO...

2. The Moonclips, the fastest method to load a revolver.

3. It shoots like a dream!

4. Shares the same ammo from my Rohrbaugh (if I pack 2 guns!)

5. Packs a punch, too: just feed it +P ammo

6. Many aftermarket support: holster, grips, springs, etc.

7. Tough, but she's pretty enough to take home!

8. They don't make 'em no more! Good if you already own one!

The things I hate about the 9mm SP-101 revolver:

1. The action almost always needs to be smoothen up a bit (when new.)

2. Major replacement parts available only Ruger's own factory service center (but what's to break?)

3. Only 5 shots for a 9mm (but it's revolver.)

4. Ain't no pocket gun (wasn't designed to be.)

5. Fixed sights

6. They don't make 'em no more! Bad if you don't already own one.

Cheers!

>>I like my 9mm SP-101 because...

* I'm an SP-101 fan - love the look and feel
* It's not a Smith...but the factory Ruger can be tweaked to shoot as smooth as one...and...it has a tough-as-nails cylinder release - I HATE the screw on (fall off) Smith version.
* I'm into a 9mm phase these days...and I bought a boat load of 9mm ammo.
* Love the moon clips...almost as fast as a semi auto clip to reload.
* Got mine for just over $400 - recently...!
* I have CT Laser sights on mine...which more than negates the fixed sight issue...TW<<

And so the winner took home the gun for $682.55. Figure around another $60 at both FFL ends, that would bring the total cost to $743.

Cheers!
