Is that the latest Rohrbaugh with the black frame? If so it looks great.

Victor: It is the latest Rohrbaugh version for the guys who wear very large baggy pants!  ;D

Mountainman: I tried to use RJ's pocket holster but it got as far as the threaded barrel. Was kinda disappointed! Do you think he will give me my money back?  :P

That HK is a very well made gun, but, you need to be a big dawg to carry it for long. Thats what makes a SEAL a SEAL, a 90# pack and the big dawg! What a great series of photos!  Regards, Tom

John - nice pics as ever (if a tad large! (nudge!).)

I haven't taken pics of R9 next to large stuff but did this pic a while ago - two slight ''extremes'' shall we say LOL.  I must do this with R9!

I reckon even my SIG 226 would look quite big agsinst R9 too.

Chris & Cuteo:

My R9s is back at the jeweler trying one last time to get its silver grips, but here is my version of "David & Goliath" -- my Desert Eagle .50 AE and my diminutive little wife's diminutive little NAA MiniShort:

I think you are talking about it's bigger brother, the HK SOCOM MK23 Mod0, the SEALs current issued gun. All handguns are for defensive purpose, but the SOCOM was designed from the beginning to be an offensive handgun! It is even bigger and heavier than this tactical model.

However, IMHO, this "smaller" tactical does everything that the bigger brother can do with less weight and size (besides the silence decocking feature.) It is what HK should had proposed to the SEALs in the 1st place. In the current issue of S.W.A.T. magazine, there is a review of this exact little brother. The reviewer stated that several of the SEAL members use the issued SOCOM "at work" but prefer to carry the tactical off-duty. There also are unofficial reports that some foreign special op units have adopted the USP tactical instead of the SOCOM. But it is still a little large of a gun for average joe (me!).

Nevertheless, is a very reassurance tool when holding it in the hand. And with 13 rounds of .45ACP ready at your disposal, it creates confidence. I do plan on carrying it daily, but in my LAPD's issued "bailout" bag that looks like a laptop bag. It has a perfect hidden pocket for a gun for fast draw. It is my off-body backup gun when sh*t hits the fan.

Let me add a more apt ''big and little'' pic, compared with my earlier one - which I have been meaning to take for a while!! Found BFR was a tad ''grubby'' - gave me a great excuse to clean it!

Cuteo100, Both HK's are well made guns but too large and heavy to carry on a regular basis. I have seen and shot both at a HK demo with several PD's. If they were half the size, I would be all over them.  Regards, Tom

Brenden,

Maybe we need to take up a collection so you can get some speed.

Easy for me to talk - my wife's company pays for our internet connection.
