Title: Springfield Armory 1911 EMP
Post by: kjtrains on May 26, 2009, 10:26:15 AM
Does anyone have a Springfield Armory 1911 EMP 9mm?  Just wondering how you liked it.  I ran across one on Gun Broker and Guns America yesterday and liked the looks of it.   :)    :)

I can't speak to the Springfield per se, but my husband built a 9mm Government model 1911 last year and OH MAN is it a nice gun to shoot!! It is smooth, has minimal recoil and the accuracy is amazing!!  It makes ME look like a good shooter!

Sounds good!  The EMP has a 3" barrel and is smaller than the regular 1911's. Good for concealed carry; but not pocket carry.

It probably wasn't a fair comparison, but shooting 9mm out his 1911 frame is great! The weight and balance of the gun counteracts the recoil. It's amazing how easy it is to shoot!

I found a Forum on the EMP and most had favorable things to say about it.  One said he had fired 5,000 rds through his without a hiccup.  I did notice other threads posted on this Forum on the EMP without much response.  Had I noticed that earlier, I would not have entered this one.
