Title: One Of The Trade Pistols
Post by: jhs27275 on August 10, 2010, 11:15:52 AM
This is one of the pistols I got in trade. I'm not a fan of Glocks, but this one sure is pretty.    :)

Glock 19 Talo Gold Edition.

One of these, minus the muzzle attachment.    ;D

Nope, not at all. I had more than one of the early models and the buyer wanted it more than I did. The nice cashiers check that went with the deal helped make up my mind.     ;D

Yep, they are a blast to shoot. It's fun to ring steel at long range with a pistol.    :)

I just moved the can to one of the newer models.

What is the difference between the older and new models - other then the price!

The older model has a different trigger guard shape, grip is checkered differently, no magazine safety, different rail system, low profile factory fixed night sight, and it just plain looks better.      ;D

And like land, they don't make it anymore.     ;D

The Five Seven has been on my want list for some time now.  I bought the ammo first and now something keeps getting ahead of it.

I could have had one in a trade a couple of years ago but am not really attracted to them.  They are fine guns just not for me.

I like the speed of that bullet and it's accuracy; and yes, capacity.

Yep. With the cash I bought another Five Seven and had some money left over.

Before anyone asks, I was not wearing a mask when I made the deal.     ;D

It is pretty. But I'm not really a Glock guy and may sell it.

I do need a good holster for the R9S and some Silvertips.    :)

jhs.  For a holster, give Robert at Meco Holsters or Jim at Hidden Holsters a look;

For Silvertips, look at Sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com at $29.95 a box.

Pretty & Glock are not two words that I would use together but it is near perfection in form and function so if I were you I'd keep it, I've never had a hicup with mine. :)

I've been thinking along that line.

As for pretty, with the polished slide, jeweled barrel, and gold trim, it's as close as Glock will ever get.      ;D

The Glock look has to grow on you.  I now like their looks; just one of those, get use to, things.    :D
Title: Re: One Of The Trade Pistols
Post by: jhs27275 on August 13, 2010, 05:05:56 PM
You can dress it up, put a shine on it, add a little gold trim, and at the end of the day it's still just a Glock.      ;D

Sorry, comes from too many years of carrying a Sig as a duty weapon.    :)

To me, just knowing the perfection, helps me to like the looks; at the end of the day, I'm glad it's a Glock!    ;D

Glocks are meant to be ugly - if they weren't so hideous, I wouldn't be willing to do the things I do to them.   ;D

I think they become a bit like old trucks, a bit of "weathering" improves them.  (I'm a bit envious of my brother's G30 2nd gen, which has been splattered w. paint, and looks as if its been used as a chew toy by a dog.)

jhs, if you do decide to sell the stealth, how about offering it in the classified section first? That would give the members first chance at it. After a few days, if no sale then offer it on GB. Be a nice gesture.     Gene

Now that's a good idea.  Several members here in the Classifieds have asked about Stealths.  May be a good opportunity for a win, win situation.    :)

At my age, I've been through the various stages of acquisition and divestiture of firearm ownership. I am now down to the stage of wanting to own only the best of each of the various type of firearms I want to have in my collection. The reach for that goal continues to exceed my grasp. But that is a good thing. After all, the quest is in many respects more enjoyable than achievement of the goal itself.

When those Steyers first came out they were priced so right.

It just melted in my hand.  I liked everything about it- almost.

I just could not get past the slick feeling of the grip. :P  It was like the grooves did nothing for the grip purchase.

So I passed.

Now I kind of regretted it, prices have gone up, and I could have sent it to Robar for a grip enhancement for the difference in cash. :'(

Those slick grips look like a good candidate for 3M tape which I like but turns up the noses of some grip purists.

Speaking of "bling" on a Glock, check out this G22:

As Brenden will attest, I am not averse to a little "bling" on my guns. However, who would have thought to add full coverage scroll engraving to polymer?

Quite different, for sure!  Now, I like Glocks, but for me, just doesn't fit.  That's why we like different things, though.
