Well, this is interesting...
http://www.pitchengine.com/pitch/98020/
More competition in the sub-compact single-stack 9mm market.
This was a well kept secret. When I was at Sig, they told me something big was breaking in time for SHOT. Well -- they are a little early!
-
Thanks, Duane; concealed carry is the name of the game but 20 oz. is a bit heavy for my pocket.
-
If that is the unloaded weight -- the gun is a bit porky.
-
Its a must have, I think. :P
-
You can bet that they wouldn't advertise a loaded weight on their sales brochure.
-
Well.....another one to think about!
-
It's the same size as a Kahr PM40 and it weighs more
(17.7 oz for the PM40) and has less punch.
I think I'll pass on these.

Wait for the alloy version to come out.
-
Sounds like a good idea!
-
It's still a 9mm with a low round capacity. ::)
John
-
Maybe it has less weight! ;)

Even though this thing can't hold a candle to the pup, strangely enough it will pass the 5000 mark in sales in 2 0r 3 months if not the first. Hell, CDNN and Bachman Pawn can sell a couple of thousand together the first year.
That gun will be a "filler" for Sig. Those that bought 380s will move up to the 290 to fill in between therir full size or 239's. And those with full size will drop down who did not like or want a 380. And of course LE will do the BUG thing.
Basically their "brand loyalists" alone will keep it going.
They know Rohrbaugh is a niche gun and has just a bite of the pie. Why go for a bite when you can get a piece for less effort ?
-
half the price for a plastic pistol?? and heavier @20 oz. ??? Tom
-
It is not the gun for me.
I found my holy grail.
Just being a gun guy all my life and in the industry like yourself and around 50 -100 gun guys evey weekend in competition; I know, you know, the Rohrbaugh is not for everyone. Even a lot of concealed carriers just don't get it, or won't justify it.

So, the winner and still "Champion World's Smallest, Lightest, and Finest 9mm Pocket Pistol" . . . the ROHRBAUGH R9!
-
No doubt, Richard. The Sig is no more competition for the R-9 than the Kahr PM-9. Very different guns.
-
Richard. Thanks for the comparison. Yep! The R9 is still the champ.
-
I don't know if it's physically possible to make a smaller and lighter 9mm and it would make for punishing recoil.
John
-
You may have a point, there, John!
-
Looks like a decent IWB gun..
I'll just use my P6 or 225 if I want a single stack Sig 9mm though.. ;)
-
Yeah, that 225 is a nice small/medium single stack.
