Title: Well... this is what happens when you skip work...
Post by: DDGator on August 19, 2005, 10:50:07 AM
Busted!  ;)

Actually I can come and go as I please, but still...  I made some excuses as to why I was leaving, then my wife and I wind up on the front page (above the fold) of the Tampa Tribune the next day.  ;D

For those not familiar with this controversy, the story is posted here: http://news.tbo.com/news/MGB5ADAYJCE.html

The controversy over this "Bodies" exhibit has been top story news in the Tampa Bay area for the last few days.

Fame again eh! ;D  Or is it infamy LOL.

Heard about this - and well I guess a mixed reception is guaranteed.  Bottom line probably would be  - ''if you are sqeamish - don't go''.  Bit like having the channel selct on remote for TV!

My early career training was medical and I expect this would have been a fascinating exhibition.

Duane:

It made the MSNBC news around here.  It was one of the few times I was not watching Fox.

Thanks for showing the info, Duane.  I had read about it earlier, and was pleased to see that you were in the story.

Just to upate this, the story got picked up on the AP Wire as was reported all over the place, including the Washington Post.

However, my 15 minutes of fame has been extended because the picture is on CNN.com today, and on page 5D of today's USA Today.

Duane:

I think that guy was on my high school track team.  We always wondered what became of him.   ;)

Whatever it was... it was ugly.  This guy had a steel rod in his back (that my wife is pointing at), a replacment hip, steel pins in his wrist, and signs of previous cranial surgery (you can see the square hole that was sawed in his skull).  :o

This particular exhibit was intended to show some of the heroic surgical measures that can be taken to keep us going...

Duane,

CNN would have never used your picture if they knew that you are a gun lover.    Congrat - you never know when fame will hunt you down.
