Title: Newbie says hi!
Post by: Seven on January 24, 2006, 03:06:19 PM
Hey everyone...after lurking for a while, decided to sign up 'cause my (barely used) R9 arrived today.  Got it from a buddy who's waiting on his new R9s with the adjustable sights to arrive, and was willing to part with the classic model.  I shot this gun last summer, and fell in love...

For me the pup will be a BUG to my primary carry (Steyr compact S9 - there's another little-known quality weapon!).  I've got a SmartCarry rig for it, am also going to be looking for a good pocket holster.

Some added personal info: been a gun owner for about 40 years, since my dad (a cop) taught me how to shoot before I could ride a bike.  I've owned many guns, was very impressed with the R9 on first encounter.

So, hello to one and all from the Show-Me state.

Thanks, Bill.  I've poked around a lot over the last few weeks, come by each day to check out what's new.  Been impressed with the quality of discussion here - not always what you find on such discussion forums.

Best,

Seven - hi and welcome :)

Well - good to know you have your own pup and if you haven't already done so - avail yourself of the info in various threads and check out the FAQ (see my sig) - always a chance there may be a few items there of interest.

Welcome aboard seven - join in and post often.

Is your buddy having someone put adjustable sights on his R9 - or did I miss some new factory option.

Richard - thanks for the welcome!

R9S - thanks!  Have been enjoying your FAQ since the first Google search some months back.  Also appreciate the links your have on there - I've picked up a lot of good tips about both the pup and CCW in general.  I might be a bit of an ol' hound, but I don't mind learning a few new tricks.

Dave - it's something new from the factory, or so he said.  I don't recall seeing it on their website, but maybe some of the old hands here will know more.

Welcome,

The sights on my R9S are adjustable. If I adjust the gun a bit, the sights follow and my point of impact changes. It's almost like magic.

I can just see the gnat-penis-sized allen wrench that we'd have to use to make the adjustments.

Damn...I knew there was a reason I wanted a R9s, since I don't have that option with my R9... ;D
