Title: Professional Photographer - Knife and Gun Expert
Post by: MountainMan on November 18, 2006, 12:07:12 PM

Professional Photographer Who Makes Knives

Steve Woods is a professional photographer who has also done some work for gun and knife magazines.

I keep this custom made knife of his pictured below, that I recently picked up at a gun show, in the door storage slot of my pickup.  Where I work you can't have a gun on the property or in your car, so this gives me a little piece of mind going to and from work.

I understand Steve, an expert shooter,  has past sniper training - the knife pictured below has the sniper reference.  He has made knives for some of our military men in combat that are highly prized.

These pictures are mine and not Steve Wood's excellent quality.

Even a blood groove -- that's a serious, and beautiful, knife!

(And the Seecamp is a beauty as well.)

That looks like the Snipers Hide Forum special "Hide Fighter".  I've seen it on www.snipershide.com......

It's a fine weapon. ;)

Well thanks to you MG I was able to track down Steve Woods. ( http://rockriveriron.com/index.php ).  He called me on Saturday from his cell.  His 12 year old son had just shot his first Texas buck (12 points) and they had loaded it into the vehcle and they were driving home.

My nephew Chris is in the 82nd Airborne as the squad machine gunner and will be shipped out to Afghanistan on 1/16/07.  I thought the chances of getting a "Hide Fighter" custom knife for Chris made by then would be impossible and I was going to give him mine pictured above - even though I've become attached to it.

Well Steve told me that he is in the process of making 12 for a marine squad and decided to make two extra - one is spoken for.  Given it is for my nephew the last one is mine and he will have it to me before Christmas.  The bonus is that he said from reports from the military in the field he made some improvements to make the knife more battlefield tough and this group he is making will be the first to have this.

Interesting how a post on a forum can lead to unexpected positve results.

Dave, God wanted him to have the knife before he goes there.  Tom

Occasionally the planets come into line and things develop as they should.   8)

God's blessings on your nephew with gratitude for his service to our country.
