Title: How this forum is saving my Marriage
Post by: mshechte on March 24, 2007, 12:20:01 AM
They say that the first step to recovery is to first admit that you have a problem. So here goes:
Hello, My name is Mark, and I am a Pistolholic. I like to buy Guns...Lot's of them...all the time. I don't feel fullfilled with my existence unless I am shopping for, or puchasing a handgun. I think Gun Shops are like Church, and Range Time is like Praying...I have a sickness.
But by the Grace of God, and this Forum...things have changed. By you fine people allowing me to ramble on here about  things of interest, and things that I am passionate about. I am not spending as much time on Gun Broker.
So, I thank you...my Wife thanks you...my Kids thank you...my Dog thanks you...and my Check Book thanks you.
God Bless!

Maybe it is the vicarious experience syndrome that is saving
you; like when a couple, for example, spend hours planning
trips but never go on one.

My name is Richard, and I also am a "Pistolholic."

There, that's Step 1 of the 12-Step Program.  I've never made it to Step 2.

Now that I've signed in to this "PA" meeting, please excuse me while I go check out the "Other Guns" and "Classified" topics to see if there's anything new there I need to buy.   ;)

I'm with you, Richard, but I have found the "need" list to
be attenuating somewhat while the "want" list continues
to cook. I try to rationalize that most of what I needed
has been met. When I moved back to Texas from Ct. via
Portugal 20 years ago I didn't own one firearm.; things
change.

I don't have a pistol problem!!!

I refuse to accept any suggestion that I have a pistol problem!

I have never lost a job or ruined a relationship due to my enjoyment of pistols.

I can handle my pistols, I like my pistols, and I enjoy spending time with the kind of people that like pistols as well.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

And I can stop buying pistols whenever I want.

I just don't want to right now.

I think I may have suffered a RELAPSE :P.
I was good for a couple of days, but I never made to step 2 of 12. Since I posted this, I have bought a Springfield XD40, a Seecamp LWS 380, and a LWS 32. I need some professional help, and a bigger Safe  ;)

You know you really have it bad when you already have multiple large gun safes; and then when you are at gun shops or gun shows, you are eyeballing your next safe.

Reinz,
It appears you have way too much spare change.
