Title: Question
Post by: mshechte on January 14, 2008, 11:45:53 PM
I noticed an engraved R9 on Gunbroker today, and spotted something that seemed a little Fishy to me.
It has a SN in the mid 700's, and Farmingdale on the slide.  :-/
My R9 has a SN in the mid 600's and it's a Deer Park Model.
So my question is this: When did the R Bros switch locations?
Is this R9 pieced together from a couple of guns?
I won't be able to sleep, until someone shines some light on this one.  ;)
Later,
Mark

Get to snoozing!! ;)

There have been early frames that were refinished and then used on much later guns. Could be a slide was done this way also??

Sometimes people "shop" the serial #s too-but that one looks real..

FWIW,my Deer Parker is in the R500s

Have to search for sure on when the move was made for sure.. :)

Subject to correction, I believe there were two R9s which were engraved by the factory prior to release, one a Farmingdale and one a Deer Park model. They both have shown up on Gunbroker.com -- both being offered by sellers in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Deer Park back in October 2007 --

and now the Farmingdale --

That Farmingdale looks like a real beauty.

I did not know that there were engraved models released by the R Bros..
I think I remember that they auctioned off one, if I recall, at a Shot show. R1000 (now I am thinking it wasn't engraved)Isn't the mind a wonderful thing!! :o

I figured that this gun was done by an owner!!(Engraved that is)
The serial # thing has always been a bit of confusion for people wanting to know when their pups were "Born".. ;)

Thanks for that info Richard on the engraving..

I have seen some engraved models on Gunbroker and also on Gunsamerica sites for auction before.  I dont know if they were done by Rohrbaugh themselves.  One on gunsamerica was wanting 5000.00 for it!!!!  Here is another that looks good also.
