Pilot to Tower: "Tower, there is an Osprey approaching the
field carrying a big fish."

Tower to Pilot: "Roger, have him contact the Tower at the
Marker."

The two birds of prey that Richard compares are both
very effective in their missions: The Osprey picks up
its payload and the Skyhawk, A-4F shown here, delivers
it.

Indeed! And in that regard, I really admire this poster by Peter Mersky which appears on the opening page of the Skyhawk Association web site:

Also, R.G. Smith, known as "R.G", was one of the best
airplane artists ever.

One of the most extraordinary feats of airmanship in combat
is the story of LCDR. T.R. Swartz which is chronicled in the A-4
link above. You wing shooters will particularly enjoy it.

Evading and then shooting down a MiG-17 using an unguided air-to-ground rocket brings an entirely new dimension to the term, "wing shot." Lieutenant Commander Ted "T.R." Swartz certainly earned the Air Medal that day.
