This is not only Memorial day weekend for me, but also Thanksgiving Day. My only child, a daughter, lives in Guatamala where she works for a subsidiary of Microsoft. As you probably know the last week has been rather chaotic there. Volcanoes and then a tropical storm on top of that. I've been unable to get thru to her at all. Phones were out and even the internet wasn't working. Needless to say I've been worried sick. She called a few minutes ago and said she was pretty much alright. She lives 15 miles from the nearest volcano. She said the rain from the tropical storm was washing the ash out the air, so it was raining mud. This is probably not the proper thing to be posting, but I'm so relieved that I had to tell everyone. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Gene

Gene. Glad to hear your daughter is fine. I know you are at ease now with her call. Excellent.

What a relief when that happens. My son was supposed to be working at the New York Merc. Exchange, WTC #4 on 9/11. We didn't hear from him until about noon that day. Turns out he overslept and never made it to work.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Gene:
That is wonderful news! And, in my opinion, it is an entirely proper thing to be posting. These days, uplifting reports such as yours are not only welcome but needed. My best wishes to you and your daughter and your entire family.

That is very good news Gene, I know how it feel's to wait for the news and in your case it was positive. May the Good Lord also be with her in the weeks ahead!
