Picked up a MicroTech UTX-70 -- their smallest OTF automatic. Its so small its cute, but seems to be making for a great EDC knife -- where its legal!
Anyone else like MicroTech knives?

I don't have one, but will be looking at this one, for sure. I like it being small and automatic.
-
I have the double edge UTX 70, but I am not allowed to carry it in Michigan.
-
Very well made knives. I have a few, but none are OTF.
That is a cool knife to own.
Actually, my screen name "Chameleon" is from an early Micro Tech knife I own, it is one of one hundred.
-
I wondered where that name came from! ;D
-
I've looked at them in the past. Very cool OTF, but unfortunately not legal to carry in Texas. My edc knife is a CRKT M21-14sf. A little big, but I work around that. David
-
Where are they legal to carry for ordinary citizens?
-
Here you go.
Part one.
State laws
Each individual state (and sometimes individual counties, cities, and towns) may, and often do, have laws restricting weapons including knives, often specifically mentioning switchblades. Laws often refer to blade lengths and styles to define tools with useful purposes. The definition of a legal knife is often taken in context with the situation. Some states allow police officers to declare any object, screwdriver or broken bottle as an offensive weapon.

I think I will just assume that automatic knives are illegal to carry for most of us. Kentucky makes some sense and thanks for posting these laws.
-
I have three Socoms that are thumb assist opening MicroTechs - two 4 inch blades and one 3 inch. They are better made than most custom tactical knives.
-
I like the switchblade law in Arkansas :o
Arkansas *Posses* Legal - State Code: 5-73-120 *Carry* Legal as long as intent is not to use the knife as a weapon against a person. If the intent is to use it as a weapon on a person, then it is illegal to carry, especially where alcohol is served or present. State Code: 5-73-120
They must have had the entire brain trust of the state work that out ;D

I liked that one, too; i.e., don't even think about it.
-
I am in Florida, so its legal for me to carry with a Concealed Weapon Permit.
Ironically though -- its really too small to be a weapon.
-
Wish it were that way in Michigan.. :(
Close as I can go is a Kershaw "flipper"!!
