Yesterday was a tragic day for the Tampa Bay area.
Two Tampa Police Officers were gunned down during a traffic stop. The passenger had a misdemeanor warrant for worthless checks. When they pulled him out of the car, he pulled a gun and shot both officers in the head. They had no opportunity to fight or even call for help.
One officer's wife is nine months pregnant. The other has four kids, the youngest only 8 months old.
The cop killer is still at large and we are experiencing a massive manhunt.

God bless all of those who protect and serve.
We all need to be vigilant -- there are people out there to whom our lives mean absolutely nothing.

May God take the brave officers into His eternal care and may He guide, bless, and protect their grieving families and friends. And may the craven killer be brought surely and swiftly to face the full weight of justice.

Amen.

Truely, a sad day for sure. May we all pray a prayer for the families and the slain officers. We know not why these senseless acts occur, and ask that God bring...... peace.

Thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and fellow Sheepdogs!

Suspect lawyered up and turned himself in today. Not the brightest move. This guy will not likely avoid the death penalty, although he will have a decade or more to think about his judgment day approaching.

The wheels of justice may sometimes be slow to grind, but they grind exceedingly fine.
Thank you, Duane, for posting the information.

I heard about this guy on the radio up north, on July 4th, and the tragedy is both obvious and well covered in this string.
If there is any "good news" it is that the murder was committed in a capital offense state. Let us hope that our attorney general does not interfere in this matter.

Just now reading this post, note “New Member.” I want to express the sadness I felt when this happened. I had just left Tampa the day this happened. My son goes to USF there and I was visiting, in fact, it was during this trip that I drove over to Lakeland, FL and purchased my Pup. This was very tragic and just goes to show that on any given day, one never knows when it will be their last. May God continue to be with the families of those that sacrificed their lives for citizens like us.
