Let me prevail on the good nature of the members of this board to mention a class I co-created, and will be presenting again in a couple months.
Shivs, Shanks & Tourniquets (http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com/shivsshanksandtourniquets-1.aspx)
Montgomery, AL
Jan 22-23, 2011
Taught by Dr John Meade & Rick Klopp
Suarez International
This course is designed to give the student a basic idea of how to use a knife to make holes in people that are trying to kill you, and how to plug up any holes and cuts that they manage to make in you, or someone you care about, before you can take them down. The self-defense information shows the commonality of approach to an attacker, regardless of whether he has a knife, a club or a rock in his hand. This class is NOT limited to only knife. You will have lots of time for hands-on practice with both the combatives and the first aid stuff. Also time to learn anatomy, too.
It is important to mention the physicality of the class. This is not a "sit in a chair and listen to a lecture" class. You are moving, grappling with others, rolling around on the mat, and getting worn out! We have had several students over 60, and they did fine. But come to class ready to leave tired, sore, and maybe even bruised!
Don't be scared. We will hurt you with brotherly love.

This has a familiar ring to it.

Sounds like a very worthwhile class, I wish there was something like it offered near me.

bama. Sounds like an excellent class, for sure. I, too, would like something like that around here. Great you are doing that.

Get a dozen guys together for a class, and we can bring the class to you! We are already working with hosts to take it to California, Nevada, Texas & Michigan.
