Title: My Top Shot Casting Video
Post by: DDGator on February 19, 2011, 09:29:36 AM
Hey guys,

So...perhaps my taste in TV is not too sophisticated.  I love the new Top Shot series on History Channel.  More than anything, I love the fact that they are making guns and shooting mainstream entertainment and portreying the shooting sports in a positive light.  Its about time!

Anyway, I applied for Season 2 and didn't hear anything, but I got a call for Season 3.  I did some phone interviews and was asked to send in a casting video.

I just found out I didn't make the short list.  Oh, well -- it would have been fun.  But, I thought I would share the video anyway.   My wife and I put this together over just a couple days because of a short deadline.

Enjoy!

Duane;

I enjoyed the video, I am sorry that you didn't make the short list. Maybe they will watch the video again and have a change of heart. Good luck on the second time around.

Duane I just watched the video, it was great!.  I learned a few things about you I did not know.  I bet if you had shown a couple of them purty Rohrbaugh's you have you would have made the cut!  ;D

Thanks.  Everyone gives me good feedback on the video -- it's just a really competitive process.  I certainly don't have the professional shooting credentials of most of the people on Seasons 1 or 2.

However, you can see that being a world champion pistol shooter or a gold medalist doesn't necessarily mean you can hit a pool ball at 30 feet under pressure!!!   ;D

Good show, Duane; you're a Top Gun with us and this isn't an easy task sometimes, either.

Duane.  Excellent video.  I, too, learned a few things about your life.  Great shooting as well.  Sure think you should have made the short list.  Keep trying.  You do have what it takes.

I can not tell you in just a few words here how impressed I am with you at this time.
First off, your video was outstanding.
I have watched Top Shot, I watched all last season all in one long day, none of those guys have anything on you!
I don't know what those producers are looking for in a competitor, but they should not have passed you up.
Maybe you're not arrogant like some of those big mouths on the show that can't shoot.
Who the heck can shoot a snubbie like that?
Great job!

It would have been a hoot for all of us here on the forum to follow you along on the show.
I think you are still our hero anyway.

Maybe Top Shot is looking for bull shooters.

Thanks guys, I am humbled by your compliments.   :-[

I will keep trying.  Mabye it just didn't fit with their plans this time.  I hope the show continues to succeed and show off all the shooting talent in this country.

Great video, Duane! They should have selected you. It reminds me of the time Toby Keith was turned down for a record deal and told that he had no future in country music.   8)

Let's make it this time! I am willing to bet that the producers need alternates.
Get the E-mail campaign going now and submit for 2012.
At the very least get on as an alternate and if their first choice had to cancel, you may be in.

Well, if they are doing things like they did the last time, they have about 50 people scheduled for final casting in California the week after next.  They only need 16 -- so they have plenty.

Maybe my background just didn't fit for that season.  I hope they didn't get a different gun writer!  :o  But, most writers don't want to stick their necks out that far...

You'll make it next time.  We're all rootin' for ya!    :)

Anybody watch the show last night?  This is not really a spoiler, but the elimination challenge was shooting a plate rack with a Glock 17.  Looked like a scene straight out of my casting video -- right down to the fact it was a Second Generation gun!

I bet theirs didn't sport Warren Tactical sights though...   ;)

Farewell, Jermaine. (Who would have thought that Jay, the golf instructor, would win that one?)
___

Duane, I should edit this post by adding that my money would have been placed on your not being in that elimination match anyway. In the unlikely event that you had been, you certainly would not have missed the first opening of the gates, as I seem to recall that the winner, Jay, had done.

Duane, I would like to see you on there.  I think it would also be fun to see some of the YouTube stars like either Hickok45 or Nutnfancy.  Who else would you guys like to see on there?
