Memphis, Tn - There was a multiple shooting downtown on Sunday evening at the Double Tree Hotel. It happened around 7:15.
Officer Timothy Warren responded to a call at Union and Third. He, along with several other officers were confronted by the suspect, 22 year old Alexander Haydel, in the Double Tree stairwell. Officer Warren was shot in the head and was rushed to the Med where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police also found 49 year old Arthur Warren dead from a gunshot wound on the 9th floor. Police say there is no relation between Timothy and Arthur Warren.
The suspect was taken into custody acting erratically. He was taken to the Med and treated for minor injuries, then on Monday but remains in police custody.
Police Director Toney Armstrong told the media on Monday that the shooting involved a love triangle between Haydel, his wife, and Arthur Warren, the wife's ex-husband.
There was incident with the suspect earlier in the day, when he was kicked off Beale Street.
Fox 13 spoke with witnesses on the scene who said the suspect pulled out a gun on the elevator before exiting, making a gunshot motion with his hand. Moments later they say they heard shots being fired.
Armstrong spoke with the media after the shooting, "When something like this happens, it’s like it happens to you own family."
Timothy Warren had been with the MPD and is survived by his wife and 2 children.

Just curious, what is meant by "Three Grand Divisions of the State of Tennessee"?
-
Think in terms of West Side, Midtown, and East Side.
