Title: Need help with ID of old revolver
Post by: DDGator on July 25, 2011, 12:12:11 PM
Lots of experienced guys here...

Can anyone help me identify this old revolver?

Small caliber -- .32-ish.  Loads through a side gate like a single-action, but is actually double-action.  No exterior markings that woud indicate a caliber or manufacturer.

Let me know!

Looks like a Belgian Pinfire to me.

Here's another, but missing the ejector rod.

Yep, a friend clued me in to that.  It is DEFINITELY a pinfire of some sort.

The U and crown proofmarks on the cylinder and under the barrel indicate the gun was sold in Germany, which means it was likely of Belgian manufacture.

This is probably a 7mm.  Some of these guns date back to the civil war era.  A few were made as late as 1911.  My best gusss from what I see on the internet has this one made in the 1870s to 1880s.

Thanks!
