Title: Need a good IWB holster

Can somebody recommend a good comfortable IWB holster.

Many people consider the Milt Sparks VM-2 as one of the very best.  I have had two and agree.  Also had good results with the EX Companion.

The Summer Special II would be an excellent choice.  One writer said: "....traditional designs such as the immortal Summer Special from Milt Sparks make concealed carry much more viable."  

I think Mr. Clint Smith from Thunder Ranch uses the Summer Special.

If you want it in two days, Lightning Arms Sports has never failed me in three orders, even when Labor Day was included in the two day delivery.

Otherwise, the Milt Sparks wait time may be around twenty weeks.

My choice for a full-sized 5" 1911 is the Summer Special II.

I don't often carry IWB, but when I do I usually use one of the LCS II Concealment Holsters.  Here's a link to their web site:

I looked at that LSCii and I dont get it.   It looks like a wallet to me.  What the heck is it?

It's basically a pouch which is held IWB by a leather-covered spring clip.  Rather than my attempting to describe it, here is the company's description:

I should have mentioned an alternative method of carrying IWB -- a belt clip from Clipdraw  (http://www.clipdraw.com/ ).  Here's a macro photo of one which I had engraved and have installed on one of my 1911s:

This rig is simply an adaptation of the old "Mexican Loop."

The best IWB holsters I have used are made from Kydex.  The reason is that molded, reinforced leather holsters add significant thickness to the total package that must be concealed, while thin, unmolded leather holsters won't retain the gun without a retention strap.  Kydex combines thinness with rigidity and retention.

My favorite is made by SideArmor.  The 5 degree cant works very well for my 3:30 (belt buckle is 12:00 carry position.  I have also had good luck with Blade Tech, and know many who like Comp Tac.

I understand that Milt Sparks uses a 20 degree cant angle, which will work better for a carry position further back on the belt than I prefer.

For a comfortable, stable, high quality leather IWB holster I recommend the Alessi Watch Six Dual Talon. I think that would be a perfect holster for the R9. And it doesn't add much thickness at all.

Actually, for what gun do you want a holster for?
The R9?
There are several manufacturers of great leather products here on this forum, and at least one Kydex holster maker.
I have several modes of carry for the R9, IWB, OWB, and pocket.
I happen to have a Kydex Paddle holster from David Brown that is wonderful. My Matt Del Fatti IWB works well, it is well made, and comfortable, and I have a pocket holster made by R.J. Hedley.Ron Graham, and K&D holsters also frequent this forum, and offer many great holster designs.
Some are in stock, and some you may have to order.
