If this has been discussed before(I couldn`t find it) sorry. Is this possible? Is it too heavy for this carry method?Does anyone make one?
-
Welcome Rok' - :)
I know of no neck holster a such but - you may find this sho rig of interest from Ken Null.
''SMZ (Smertch) shoulder holster.
I bought one and will use it occasionally - novel design and effective, tho maybe not for everyone.
http://www.klnullholsters.com/
You should be able to find it on his site.

ThankSS for the welcome R9. My R9s will arrive Tu so I`ll have to see what will be the best carry method.I have used a Seecamp in the pocket holster by Kramer for many years for backup as a LEO.Since I am retired I have just been carrying a small auto as a primary...not good I know.I think the Rohrbaugh will fill the void and allow discreet carry while providing sufficient stopping power.
-
Chris: I also got a Ken Null shoulder holster and it is very interesting to use. I am still playing with it at this time and has not yet mastered it's unique drawing technique!
-
I contacted Mike Benedict from TDS about making a kydex neck rig...he couldn`t do it.
The Ken Null stuff looks fantastic.I`m going to see what it looks like on TU and go from there.Possibly a laynyard ring with a breakaway strap on the lanyard.
-
Blue Grips - two things with that Ken Null deal - some folks may not like that the muzzle points into the axillary area (armpit!!) - tho it does not bother me.
The draw tho does for sure have to exert the correct twist motion to unpop the popper - a bit of experimenting and it is not too bad - definitely tho something to work on.
Potentially I think that rig - for me anyways - will be excellent as an option in winter. Here's pic of mine for anyone interested -

ROKTMAN:
First of all, let me welcome you to the Forum!
Ron Graham makes neck holsters for the NAA line of Mini Revolvers. Here's a link to the page:
http://www.palehorseholsters.com/exotic.htm . He might be persuaded to make one for one of the R9s. However, the 13+ ounce weight of a loaded R9, although negligible when carried in a pocket or belt holster, would appear to me to make for a pretty heavy "necklace" to wear for any length of time.
-
ThankSS Richard.I did email Ross on it and Ron agreed to do it.I have a pretty big neck and do wear one of his fine NAA neck rigs daily.
I am waiting on a return email with the phone # so we can finalize the order.Maybe tomorrow I will get it.
ThankSS for the welcome and feedback on it.
-
I have tried neck carry, and it isn't something I can recommend for a gun. The gun will bounce around a bit, which isn't good when you need to draw it. If your shirt is tucked in, your draw will be slow. You also start the draw with the gun pointed at your head.
Ken Null makes some neat products and is good to deal with. Just make sure you will be comfortable with that style shoulder harness.
-
ThankSS Bill.I might try the Ken Null holster. It seems to be well received here as one of the best.ThankSS again.I will have to say I did have success with the NAA neck holster from Ron.I wear my shirts out since I retired ,no uniform for me! :)
-
Comp Tac has one.
I would hold out for a Ron Graham if he will make one.
Here's Comp Tac

-
ThankSS for ther link but Comp Tac won`t make one for the R9.
I haven`t been able to get a response from Ross at Pale Horse Leather to get a phone # to call and place the order.Maybe too busy .
-
I will tell you that Ross and Ron from Ron Graham Holsters are great guys to deal with.
I know that they are busy.
Given time, RJ would be able to come up with something.
I think he is busy developing his next generation pocket holster.
-
I own several Ron Graham holsters. He is good to deal with.
Ross and the Pale Horse website deal with customer service, which frees him to make holsters.
-
Yep,just ordered the neck carry from Ross. They are fine holstermakers.I have a neck carry for the NAA and a pocket holster for it as well.
I am sure this will be no different than the other fine holsters from Ron.I appreciate him making a non standard holster for me on the Rohrbaugh.
I,like most have tried most everything in my time.In law enforcement I used primarily Kramer horsehide and Galco jackass shoulder rigs with a Alessi or two thrown in for special situations.
ThankSS for all the help Ross and Ron and all who helped me on this. :)

My first Ronbo holster...back around 1969...I carried in my nut sack while working dope. It did good.
In those days....the man worked for a living...now he won't even talk to us?

Anything further on the neck holster question?
I would be interested in one myself for my R9.
Thanks
-
Chris,
I would really like to hear how you like the Ken Null shoulder holster for the R9! How about a detailed review on your website?
I have looked at those shoulder holsters for a long time, but my reaction has always been "plastic? no way!" But over time, I've seen so many people with small revolvers (e.g. J-frames) and other small guns, that love them... that I've had to re-evaluate.
Here's my (tongue-in-cheek!!) test: If James Bond had had access to an R9S, would he have used a Ken Null shoulder holster? ;D
I'm beginning to think it might be worth a look.
What do you say?

I have a Ken Null SKR holster for a Colt Detective Special, which shares some of the advantages of the SMZ.
The upside-down positioning hides the gun very well, and provides for an exceptionally fast draw for both the strong hand and the weak hand, although the muzzle will cross your own abdomen for the weak hand draw. I don't know if the SMZ provides the same weak-hand draw advantages.
The plastic is durable, thin, and not harmed by moisture. It is a very good holster material. It is softer than your gun's metal and will not scratch your gun. The white color will not show through a white concealment garment.
The harness is the weak point. I find that it applies too much pressure to the back of my neck. I cut my harness off and replaced it with a modified figure-8 style harness.
Ken is good to deal with.

Doc,I talked to Ross last week.It will be three weeks before I get mine. They had to completely design a new carry system and prototype the holster for me.They have made me neck carries in the past but they were production items.
I would drop Ross a line and order one.I am sure the production ones will be finished much sooner since the R& D work has already been completed. You won`t be dissapointed by the quality and performance of the Pale Horse leather.

I sent them a message shortly after posting my message here and got a reply that they had no intensions of making one. I wonder if they have changed their minds or just doing the one for you?

Albert - sorry late to the fray!
Indeed yes - this would be useful I think - main prob is time and I do stuff to and for the FAQ somewhat intermittently. Busy right now on a major rework of a holster site.
I like the rig overall but agree it is not perhaps 100% total comfort - but then neither is my Bianchi X-15 which I can use for big stuff - always a part of a strap that is not quite right.
However - I did get over the ''plasticophobia'' enough to buy Ken's rig - and have used it just now and again.
Unlike many here - my R9 is very much BUG and occasional 1º - certainly not an EDC gun.
I will endevor to do a report before too long - good idea for sure :)

Hmmm....I am not sure.Maybe this was just such a PITA that they didn`t want to produce them.
I`ll post a review of it as soon as I receive it though.
