Attended a gun show today and purchased a "Pachmayr slip on pistol grip #4". Fits the R9S perfect, no trimming. I don't care for the finger groove. I used a Dremel Tool to grind it flush.
If your interested follow the link below, once there locate Sigarms P230, click on: #4 slip on (finger grooves) then scroll to: Model 4

The Hogue Grip I had been using, did required some trimming and it was some what of a struggle to get it on. Although neither grip is produced specifically for the R9, they are both quality grips. The Pachmayr just fits the R9 better.

Thanks; I ordered a #4 and a # 5 for another piece.

The #4 Pachmayr grip is great except for one thing: it puts
enough pressure on the R9 backstrap so that it is very
difficult to release the magazine. So, if you are planning a
fast magazine exchange don't use this type of a rubber grip.
I am now trying to decide whether or not to go back to the
3M tape which I liked also but without the aforementioned
limitation.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The rubber does not touch the heel release. I have tried one on my R9 before and don't understand what could cause this for you. I have had one of the #4's on my MK9 for a couple of years now and love it. Prefer my R9 without it though.
