The Walther PPS has three different magazines; 6, 7 and 8 rounders. The 6 round mag is essentially flush with the grip. The longer mags provide a better place for the 4th and 5th fingers, but they reduce the conceal-ability somewhat.
I was wondering if the factory might consider making extended capacity mags? These would sell at a premium. I think for those who carry an extra mag, that carrying an extra 8 rounds would be better than 6, and for those with big hands who carry on the belt, the extra length of the magazine would be insignificant.
-
That would be nice although I dont know how you could make one with the mag release the way it is.
-
More rounds could be better but the R9 already has some size to it.
I guess the question to ask the designers is did they want to produce the smallest 9mm possible or do they want to make a pocket gun that can carry a substantial capacity.
I think it is safe to say that most R9's will never be used for the purpose that it was designed for, so carry an extra mag and I am pretty sure you'll be ok.
-
I agree with Jack, carry an extra mag.
And when at the range, it's always good to work on mag changes anyway.

It is hard to drop the empty magazine in a hurry. Does anyone know the best way to do this?
-
Being right handed, I hold the gun with the right and push backwards with the left thumb, admittedly not very speedy.
-
I don't think there is a best way. I'm right handed also. I hold the gun with my right hand, pushing up on the mag with my right fourth finger, pulling back the mag release with the left index finger while the left thumb is pushing forward on the back of the gun, letting the mag just fall out on to something soft or the ground if necessary. This is quick for me.

Get a Glock?

Get a Glock?
And a 30rd. mag for it.

I wish the factory (or anyone) would make and offer a short mag extension. IDM Parts used to market both a straight and a curved mag extension but these have not been available for a very long time and IDM no longer replies to enquiries.
Please, can someone figure a way to provide these. I just need another 1/2" on my mags to get a much better grip. And although I've never used one, it seems it should make mag change-outs much faster too.
How about Rohrbaugh making this little item?

Chinook,
There is a thread on this in the R9 ...etc...Pistol thread. I just bumped it back up to the top a few minutes ago. You may want to check it out and add your "pre-order".

Quiet1,
Many thanks for the heads-up. I just "ordered" two...
