Title: FINALLY !!!
Post by: rooster on April 24, 2005, 09:46:04 AM
The wait is over.  Yesterday I went to the gun show and got a r9s.  I have been waiting since November and was seriously considering buying a Kahr pm9.  Well, I took the usual screwing but did it anyway.  I even looked at a Kahr but they are not even in the same league with this piece.  Now I just can't wait to get to the range and shoot this pistol.  Thanks guys for helping me stay the course and wait this one out.

Good for you Rooster!! ... Everytime I read a new post where one of " Us " got their much awaited " Jewel "  I get all the more "antsie" waiting for mine.  It was ordered in October and according to Maria when I called about 4 weeks ago she said I was looking at 8 weeks for delivery.  So hopefully I'm half way there!!
Looking forward to your range report, that is almost as exciting as if I had mine to report on also!  Regardless of what your R9s cost,... you got it and I'm sure it's everything you've been waiting for!!  I'm truly happy for you!!  ;D

RJ,  Yes it was.  I got it from Weapons Unlimited.  He had 2.  He's had them for awhile cause he wants an arm and a leg for them.

The guy that sold you the R9S is a friend of mine.  He had nothing to do with the high price, but I understand you did a little better that the ridiculous  asking price.

Yes I did, we haggled back and forth a little and we agreed on a price.  I bought a sig 239 from him at the last show so that might have helped a little.  All and all I am happy that I have my much desired r9.

Rooster,

Congratulations on your new addition!  Please let us know how it works out for you when you make it to the range.

Was that the first time you actually saw one in person, or had you handled one before the purchase?  I'd be curious to get your thoughts when you had some personal "drool time" with it after the show.  ;)

Wayne,  I handled and shot one that friend of mine had, after that I just knew I had to have one.  When I went to order that is when the company shut down with the big move, and I have been waiting ever since.  I took it to the range on Monday.  I shot 100 rnds of 115gr. aluminum blazer, no problems, recoil was a little stout but nothing anyone can't handle.  I also shot about 15 rnds of 124 gr. speer gold dots again no problems.  Take down and assy. is a real pain but I will get used to it.  Fortunately you don't have to do that often.  A real nice gun, worth the wait, and the money.  Carried it all day Sunday and Monday, this is one gun that you can wear all day long.

Rooster - excellent news indeed!  Glad you have had a chance to try it too.

''Stout'' - yes that is the word for recoil but - manageable and with aquisition of right grip (for the individual) not too daunting.  Takedown?!!  hahaha - the R9 newbie's ''baptism of fire'' LOL ....... tricky it most certainly is but - as ever - practice makes perfect.  Well - it gets easier anyways.

Welcome to  'the club'' :)

Rooster, After all your hard work and a great amount of patience, you finally got the gun!  I'm glad you like it. It is like one earns their stripes here.  Regards, Tom
