Title: Mag. problems?
Post by: Newt on April 28, 2005, 01:38:50 PM
??? Shot about 40rds today and had malfunctions. Switched mags and was ok. Has anyone here had a bad mag? I had only used this mag once before & had some problems with it then also.

Newt,

From a few other threads I've read on this forum it seems that Rohrbaugh in some way "fits" each magazine to each individual gun.  You would think the magazines would be universal.  I suggest that you send your gun in with the magazines that you intend to use with it and have Rohrbaugh make sure they work with your gun.

What kind of malfunctions did you have?  Can you describe them in detail?

I did have a mag linked issue with my first R9 .... and posted somewhere a pic of the way the rounds presented, compared with its twin.  Cannot find right now.

I sent the pair back and received new ones.  Seemed that the feed lips on the faulty one were a tad too wide IIRC .. really now forget exactly.  The R9 is rather mag sensitive and I think the Bros R did realize this and corrected it ... quite some time ago.

If you have vernier calipers - assess distance between feed lips at narrowest point on each to compare.

>>Pssssst, Chris...

The problem with that mag, and a couple I had, is that the lips were too narrow, not wide.  Optimal seems to be about 0.320".  Karl says that + or - 0.005" is ok.  My problem mags were like 0.011" or so as I recall.  I simply widened mine to the desired 0.320" and now they work fine.  I thought you made note of this on your Rohrbaugh quick reference site...?..TW<<

Heck TW - you are showing me up!  ;D

Poor does eh - when I can't even check back on my own info!  Ok - I was ''distracted'' when I posted . Will that excuse do? ::) :P

I was actually gonna adjust my mag but Eric said send em back - which is why I did just that at that point.

<note to self - check own info before spouting crap!>
