I just got my second R9s and it is #141 which, factory says is the 41srt gun made because they started #'s at #100. This gun has R9, it has sights, on the slide where my later gun #246, which is 146th gun made, has the R9s on slide. Just a little trivia.

In talking with Eric - there are cases when guns still coming out might have seemingly ''odd'' parts.
By that I mean .... they had IIRC some 70 or so frames from earlier, which had been rejected for finish - that in itself for minor flaws ... hardly a major factor other than aesthetics.
These frames have since been up to CT I believe, and been refinished to current (perfect) spec' - and so those frames will be coming out on guns now or soon, showing some of the earlier serial numbers. Which might on the face of it seem unusual if the number was viewed in a purely sequential sense.
Furthermore, I believe also, there are a few ''Farmingdale" slides still coming out - perfectly legit as they were made at Farmingdale! Could be here, a few folks will seem to be getting a much earlier gun - when in fact they are still newly assembled and tested. There will be therefore I guess a few more guns appearing here and there with slightly more ''collectible'' features.
Eventually, guns will be coming out almost sequential - this I reckon is probably the last phase of more widely spread S/N's.
So - this is as I understand it currently - and hopefully I have gotten my facts straight. :)

The #141 gun I bought from a guy in Minesota who had bought 2, one for wife, and she did not like it, so it is a very early gun. He had it for awhile.

Newt,
It seems you and I have something in common. My R9S is also serial number 141 with blue grips. Looks like the brothers screwed up. I wonder how many more duplicate numbers are out there.
-
Does one or the other gun tho have an ''R'' prefix. Same number would not matter then - plus - the way frames are made, numbered and logged - it'd be real hard to see an error occurring.
-
Mine does not have an"R" prefix. ::)

Mine does not have an"R" prefix. ::)
The plot thickens! ;D
Chris, do you guys share an identical serial number?
-
No Wayne - I am not in this!
This is Newt and wldavis - seemingly having numbers 141 each!! I am making an assumption that one has an ''R'' and other doesn't!
-
Sorry Chris, my mistake.
wlddavis - are you and Newt still sympatico? I hate to be a pest, but this is one of the more suspensful threads I have read here in a long time. (Yes, I know I need a life. . . ;D)
-
I am anxious to find out also!!!! ::) :o >:( :P ::) :-/
-
No "R" on the frame....just 141. The slide is marked Rohrbaugh R9s on one side and farmingdale, n.y. on the other side. In fact, I sent mine back to the factory a couple of weeks ago for repair and Karl called me to let me know what they did and he informed me that my pistol was the 41rst one made.
-
If 2 141's and no ''R'' then something needs done!!! If this is the real deal then I think you guys need to contact the bros and ask what is best done. I'd not think it good to have 2 idfentical S/N's!!!
-
Seems to me that I recall a previous thread that noted the R9 and R9S serial numbers were independent of each other - being technically two different models - and thus there could be the same serial number but the models are different. Anyone else remember this?
-
I guess that might be enough - could well be, on reflection but - be good nonetheless to check that out.

It doesn't matter whats on the slide, slides can be changed, but the ATF requires S# to be on the firing part of any firearm. Wldavis we need to address this. My E-mail is jehu25@comcast.net, please give me your e-mail address. :-/
-
Wldavis is your frame silver or black? Mine is black w/blue grips. ::)
-
Newt - of course - frame and S/N go together - duh me. I was not concentrating! ;D
Hope this can be easily resolved.
-
The frame is a greyish silver and the grips are blue

I talked to factory and I think Wldavis has the earlier gun and mine was supposed to have an "R" prefix. It is still at FFL, MD. 7 day waiting period, so I will double check for the R but I know its not there. Mr. Davis I got your e-mail and I will call you tonite after I recheck my gun per factory request. If we have same S# it looks like its on me to send mine in for R prefix installation, more to come........ ??? ::) :-[ :P
-
::) ::) :( As you were! Sorry I spaced, my gun does have the "R" prefix. Rechecked it and it's there( I would have sworn it wasn't) Guess I'm just gettin old. ??? ::)
-
Sigh of relief!! :D :)
-
Sorry, Newt. I kind of thought it would be. With the required record keeping, I don't see how two guns with the same SN could get out of the factory...

I'm glad this worked out for everyone. I'm sure if Eric has been following this thread, he now realizes he can lay off the antacid tablets! ;D
