Title: Pocket wear
Post by: Aglifter on July 29, 2005, 03:47:40 PM
I seem to be wearing holes in the fabric of my pants, but not in the pocket material -- the only thing I can think of is from the outside getting dragged against a hard surface (aka the sights on my R9s)  Any ideas/other people w. similar problems -- I carry it in a Hedley Holster.

The other concern i have is that it gets "banged" occasionally -- I work in a kitchen, and everyone kinda just crashes their way through when we're busy.

What pocket do you carry in, Maybe I can extend the top of the holster for these seemingly special circumstances.

RJ, are you taking orders for holsters now and about how long is the backlog?

I have been carrying one pocket pistol or another in one of RJ's holsters for the past ten years or so.  I have not experienced the problem which you describe.  The only fabric wear which I have experienced has been on the inside of the pocket material where the butt of the pistol has rubbed against my leg.  In that case, I simply had my local alteration shop replace the pocket.

I am a daily user of RJ's holsters and there are none better but while you're carrying in the kitchen a Desantis Nemisis might protect the gun and the pocket as it does cover more of the gun and has some padding. :-/

After some thought, I thing Newt has offered the wisest solution,  a Desantis Nemisis [gag] would serve very well in these circumstances..
I have been making the LE holster very high lately,  holster now rides just under the rear sghts.. May see if I can include the sights completely, in the near future..

I would suggest that all you need is one of RJ's so-called "Back Pocket" holsters.  That model has a full counter-print panel which RJ invented, perfecting a concept begun by the legendary Chic Gaylord.  Just because RJ has chosen to give his design the name "Back Pocket" does not mean that it cannot be carried in the front pocket.  In fact, since I am now wearing a pair of fitted slacks, I have one of RJ's "Back Pocket" models in my right-side front pocket as I write this posting.  The full counter-print panel gives the pistol, if it prints at all, the appearance of a wallet or small address book.  It also minimizes any outside fabric wear.
