I'll be picking up my "lil pup that Rohrs" today and have a question about ammo. It appears from previous threads that both Silvertips and Gold Dots will perform well. Notwithstanding issues of knockdown power, etc. does anyone have an opinion about whether or not there is a significant perceived difference in felt recoil between any of the recommended choices?

I hasten to emphasize that I am no physicist, but the greater the bullet weight the greater the kinetic energy (felt recoil) is apt to be. Here is a link to a site which has an interactive feature allowing you to calculate kinetic energy for various loads:

It really depends upon the round. There are other varibals beside bullet weight.
I found the Speer GDHP to have a stiff recoil, but the Winchester RA9T and SIlvertips to have less recoil. I find the difference to be quite pronounced.
It costs a bit, but I suggest you try some of each to see what both you and your pistol like.

That's good news to hear!
I've got a bunch of Ranger RA9T, and we'll be trying it out to test the recoil.
I have also heard a few people elsewhere say they thought the 147 gr was a little easier to shoot.

It is good to hear that a lot of different ammo is "good to go" for the pup!! ;D
Check out all the great info on Chris's FAQ site..
