Title: field stripped photo
Post by: harrydog on May 22, 2004, 08:59:24 PM
Could someone post some photos of a field stripped R9?
I'd like to see the major components.
Thanks!

What size brass punch should I use on that take-down pin?

The manual suggests a 1/16th inch punch.

Duane .. you saved me some trouble - again! :)  Most useful pics and nicely done.  I will if you don't mind too much tuck them away and have them available .. credit to you of course.

I also found these pics to be a tad large re download times ... plus one or two could be cropped a bit .. again, hope you won't mind if I crop a little and compress a bit more, plus just a bit of gamma lift

I didn't actually take these -- they are of one of the original guns out -- sold to Blackhawk on THR (who recently suffered a stroke).  All credit goes to him.

Yes, I agree the pics could definitely be cropped a bit -- I just havent had the time.

Any word on Blackhawk's recovery?

Can anyone post a photo of the magazine ??

If not, can someone give an opinion as to the quaility, or the general impression of the mag?
 ???

Harrydog, the mags are stainless, tiny little things, with the Rohrbaugh crest on the bottom. Very nicely done, with super neat welds, six round capacity. There are holes in the sides to see ammo, and no numbers to indicate number of rounds loaded. My general impression is they are super quality, in keeping with the rest of the pistol.

I agree. The mag for all outward appearances is excellent quality.

Yes High quality mags, they look very similar to kahr mk/pm series, could need the same manufacturer

Yep, Eric told me for holster-making purposes that a PM9 mag would work fine -- so they must be pretty darn close in all dimensions.

I agree the mags are top notch. Even though I've had some problems with my R-9, I have never had a magazine related problem. Even after firing about 390 rounds.

If I recall, Eric said they were made by ''Check Mate''.

The FAQ has pics BTW of the gun stripped at various stages.
