Title: Has anyone tried Hornady TAP ammo in the R9S?
Post by: sslater on February 13, 2006, 07:22:54 PM
Have any of the forum readers tried TAP ammo in the R9?

The other day I picked up a box of Hornady TAP 124 grain ammo (while my friend was picking up two Kimbers!  :'()

I bought the TAP ammo because I'm always looking to 'qualify' other brands of ammo for the pup.  At home, I measured the TAP rounds and found they are 1.1 mm shorter than the Speer GDHP (27.2 mm vs. 28.3 mm.)  That's about 0.044 inches difference in length.  I'm thinking these TAP rounds are not going to feed reliably.

I am thinking it may actually feed better since the ramp is so steep.

When I was testing various ammos, the TAP was the only one that failed to feed reliably, mostly not fully chambering or jamming on the ramp.
