Title: Size of R9s vs. Keltec P-32
Post by: The_Highlander on March 29, 2006, 03:19:40 PM
Hi guys, I've been lurking here and learning a little about the R9 series ever since I saw it in a couple of gun rags.  I don't currently own an R9, but I'll fix that soon.  I do have a couple of questions for you however.

I frequently carry a .32acp Keltec in my front pocket.  Can anyone post a good picture of an R9s and a P-32 showing the differences in size?

I'm a little concerned about the additional size of the R9 and printing in jeans and dress pants.  My khakis are all pleated and bloused slightly, and aren't quite as tight as jeans.  Pocket carry may be alright there.

I'll probably try to carry the R9s in the front pocket of jeans/dockers, I don't know about in a business suit.  My job requires a suit and tie, but I will be taking the jacket off from time to time and I'd like to find an IWB holster that is completely tuckable so the gun is hidden even with the coat off.  Any recommendations?

I thank you tremendously for the assistance!

Highlander...

I don't own a P32, but I do have a P3AT, both are very nearly identical in size.   Below is a pix showing a comparison between the Baby Browning, P3AT, and the R9.   Hope this helps!

Highlander:

Welcome aboard!

Here is a link to a comparison photo which Chris posted some time ago.  The photo is down toward the bottom of the page.

Well,
I'm quickly learning you guys are on the ball!

Thank you for the size information.  Looking at the pictures and reading the comparison data, I don't think I will need to worry about pocket carry.  The R9s is only a little larger than my P32, and slightly heavier.

I may still get an iwb tuckable holster for the heck of it however.

I've found K&D off this website already, and I was familiar with Matt Del Fatti.

Thank you, and I look forward to the site, and the gun!

Highlander...

I am carrying my R9 in the same Mika square pocket holster as my P-3AT.  The R9 fits perfectly, and doesn't print even in rear jeans pocket.   Cost was about $20 and a fine holster it is.

Highlander, the R9 will be as comfortable as the Kel-Tec but 9mm,you won't be disapointed.

Not the best comparison photo, but here is the R9s with a Sig 232, Walther PPk, and Kel-tec p-32

and another with a j-frame model 60

Rocnerd,
You hit the nail on the head.  The chart link posted above is fantastic as well, and easily showed me the difference in the P32 and R9s.

My other potential candidates for business dress carry were j-frames, and you have completed the "picture" on that!

I think the R9s is going to be as easy to carry as the P32.  I tend to shoot auto's a little better than wheelguns as well.  the cylinder on even a j-frame is the "printable" part and it is just easier for me anyway to conceal an auto.

And like I said, I just seem to shoot them better.

Thank you guys,  I'll be lurking and learning a little more until I have saved enough quarters to get an R9s coming my way.  Unless someone has one they want to give me?
