I did a search to see if anyone else had posted on this topic but nothing came up, unless I did something wrong.
Has anyone fired a CCI Shot Shell through their R9? Will it cycle? Any reason not to try it? I'm going camping where I expect there to be lots of snakes, and I don't want to bring more than one gun, and I would like it to be the R9. So I'd like to load the first round with a shot shell and the rest with Gold Dots.
Let me know if anyone has tried them in the R9.

I would suggest NOT attempting it... You'll have a hell of a time cleaning all those "Lil tiny pieces of "shot" out of it "If" one breaks open..!
Use a revolver..! My .02 ;)

I don't think they will function in ANY semi-auto. Not enough pressure.

I carry just as you suggest when I am about the place. Have killed one 3 foot rattler I knocked off the handle bars of my ATV after some high water and a 4 foot chicken snake with 13 of my Guinea Keats in his belly. They throw a good pattern and the next round feeds fine with ole number 99#.

Wow! ;D

Gooly - welcome from me also :)
I would generally suggest shot shells as being best from a revo - relatively short barrel. Rifle does seem to impart some spin to shot and so more rapid spread - bit like true cylinder - plus! :D
If shot is hard then I doubt much residual leading effects on bore but for me - not thru a semi and not thru an R9 - even if it works.
Seems sorta sacriligious - if ya know what I mean ;D
