Hello everyone,
I was playing around last night and decided to try the CF grips from my standard R9s on my Stealth. Well it did not work. The CF grips were to shiney on the Stealth and just did not look right at all. The G-10 grips are much better looking on the Stealth even if they are not quite as indestructable as CF.

YA know riff, I was wondering about that myself! I aquired some BLUE carbon fiber grips and wanted to try them on a stealth but dont have one yet. Im curious if I should get one. My pup has what I call a purple frame. Others have described it as being the basic black. Is the stealth black frame a "new" color? or is it what I already have only with a black slide?

Thats what it looks like to me, that is with a black slide. Tom

capt.koolaid,
The finish on the Stealth is totally different from the finish on the black framed standard models. The Stealth finish is much smoother to the touch. The two finishes, the one on the standard R9 frame and the entire Stealth are completly different.
The Stealth has really grown on me. It has just enough shiney pieces to make it look really good and not just like a solid black blob.

Thanks ..

riff, Thanks for the info. Now I gotta get a stealth it looks like!
Brenden, If you cant locate any more of the blue carbon fibers I may get rid of mine if what riff says is true that they dont look good on the stealth. Ill have to wait an see how they look, an have to get a stealth first though so it may be a while. They look good on my standard pup and im considering "customizing" it by installing the stealths slide on it. Of course ill have a bastardized pup so ill use it for everyday carry an the custom will be my show off piece.

As a general question on the carbon fiber grips, what are the recommendations for cleaning or polishing? Just received a set for my non Stealth and they look like they may need some sprucing up
Recommendations, cleaners, wax etc
Thanks in advance DEM

All I do is wipe them down with a dry cloth, slightly buff also..
I have gotten some oils on them and wiped off, with no apparent problems.. :)
Even in the pocket they seem to keep very well!! 8)

I would be interested in a set of the CF grips for my R9s if anyone knows of any.

roktman: Your best bet is to look for a pup with them on it. Rohrbaugh does not stock carbon fibers as a general rule im told. Beware however, there are some JERKS out thier scalping carbon fiber grips at ridiculous prices. I guess it boils down on how bad ya want em.
I got lucky and found a set in blue then found out blue is pretty rare. I really like em, they look great and totaly make the gun. I wondered why such a handsome accessory was discontinued so I inquired. The answers I got were that blue looked out of place so they were switched to black but Carbon fiber is EXPENSIVE and difficult to work with so the G-10 were introduced. In addition the G-10 was thought to be better able to grip which would facilitate a firm hold and hopefully eliminate some of the "limpwrist" issues.
Comparing grips Ive noticed the carbon fiber is a little "slicker" and also thinner than the G-10 material. Certainly better looking in my humble opinion and realy set off the purpleish hue on my pup. If only I could locate the elusive RED carbon fiber grips rumored to have been developed!

ThankSS Cap`n.I think they look cool too and are more upscale on the pups as well.
If anyone has a line on a set or would be willing to trade LMK.
