Title: Joined the club today

After seeing one at a gun show a couple years back I've been wanting one since then. We'll I found one local and now it's mine ;D Can't wait to shoot it. It was owned by a guy that got it from his friend. Nether one of the previous owners shot it. It was made in May of 2006 with a serial number in the 11## range. Do you really have to replace the recoil springs after only 100 rnds ???

Yes,  I recomend you replace the recoil spring every 100 rds.  They are available direct from Rohrbaugh and are only about 6 bucks.  You have an older one so please pay attention:  The magazine springs have been upgraded.  I personally would not even fire your gun untill you get the new magazine springs.  The new longer stiffer mag springs have been found to cure a lot of jamming problems that some have had with their R9.   You will be much more satisfied with your R9 if it works perfectly the first time instead of maybe haveing some jamming issues and then replacing the mag springs with the newer ones.  Is it just the lighting in your second photo or what because the magazine on the right looks black?

May 2006 is consider old ??? What's the difference between the 06 models and the current? Will Rohrbaugh send new mag springs free of charge? Can't believe you pay this much and have to buy new springs from the get go.

 Were do you purchase the mag springs from? Do's wolf make any springs for the R9

From what I understand the updated Mag Springs will be included in New R9's coming from the Factory in the very near future.The Pups out in the world with the old style springs need to have their owners buy them. After dropping a wad of cash like that on handgun, what's another 6 buck's. I get your meaning though...it's the principle of it. Oh well!
Also, I have heard that the Mag Springs for the Mk9 Kahr work in the R9 Mag. But I am of the mindset " If it ain't broke...don't fix it". Clean and lube your pup as per the manual before you take it out for spin, and I'm sure that it will run fine. Have fun, and congrats...you won't be sorry!

Almost forgot...The Choice of Ammo is key to the proper function of the pup. To quote Newt, the ammo of choice is "124gr Gold Dots, 124 gr Gold Dots, or 124gr God Dots".

First of all, congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the Forum.  

You may have already done so, but if not, read through Chris' excellent FAQ site. Here's a link to it:

Then just make sure the "pup" is properly lubricated with a good quality gun oil (my personal preference is Ballistol), load it with some of the recommended ammo, and enjoy the first range session.  Also, it's best to let the pistol cool down a bit every couple of mags or so.  Being the smallest and lightest 9mm now out there, it's built to tight tolerances and will heat up pretty quickly.

I hope you have as much luck with yours as I have had with my R9 -- a 2004 Farmingdale which has shown no vices in the three years I have been shooting and carrying it. Other than getting new recoil springs and black CF grips, it's the same pistol I purchased in early '04.

Richard...1994? I had no clue the R9 has been around that long. And they are only on what...2000 or so?

Sorry for the "typographical error/brain fade" in my previous post.  I meant to type "2004" rather than "1994," as indicated by the subsequent reference to three years of ownership.  Anyway, I've gone back and corrected the typo.  Thanks for the heads up. (Lord have mercy, in 1994 I was still crawling around in the African bush!  I hope I'm not getting "sometimers disease.")

Subject to correction, I think the 2,000 mark in R9 production was passed a few months ago.  And information from this year's Shot Show indicates that Rohrbaugh is working on a design for .45 ACP, in addition to the forthcoming .380 ACP model of which a prototype has already been produced and tested.
