Title: Mag springs

 Is there a visual way to tell the new mag springs from the older ones? I'm not sure which I have. I have had a few ftf"s. Wondering if mag spring could be the cause. I don't know when they switched over to the new ones. My ser # is15**. Thanks in advance.

Based on your serial # you definately have the older/weaker mag springs.  My advice is to order the newer/stiffer springs ASAP.  In the long run you will be better off.  Enen if your current mag springs work OK they will weaken.  Get the newer springs.  I have never seen a handgun with as weak of mag springs as the old style.

While I have not had a problem with my "old style" springs,I would buy the new one's if problems happen..

If I am not mistaken,I think the new style are "closed" on both ends-someone please correct me if wrong..

I ordered some extras-right before they went to the new style,so I have not had one in hand..

The new recoil spring is closed on both ends so that it can be installed in either direction.

The new mag springs are longer and stiffer but look the same otherwise.

Thought we were talking about the Recoil springs..
