Just bought my R9 today and can't wait to hit the range next week.
Is there anything that the veterans around here can recomend before hitting the range?
Also do I need to change the spring after shooting how many rounds?

Welcome!
If your manufacturing date is receint, which it probably is, just go shoot it! The R9 is cleaned and lubed after test firing from the factory. The current recoil springs are good for 200 to 250 rounds. Many R9 owners recomend 115gr Win STHPs, or Speer GDHPs. Range fodder is 115gr Winchester White Box. Other ammo may work well also, but these have been great for me.

Good advice.

About the only thing I would add to what Rick and the Captain posted above would be a reference to the FAQ site, if you haven't already reviewed it.

Good luck, and please give us a report of your first range session.

I bought 100 WWB 115gr today and intend on hitting the range very soon. I'll post my report.
Thanks for the feed back. :)
