Title: 115gr Vs. 124gr
Post by: hoserack on May 05, 2008, 06:54:27 PM
OK, what is the best round to throw at mr. bad guy?
Fast or heavy?
I'm no balistics expert so feedback would be appreciated.

Hose,

I read somewhere on the internet that the 115 was the way to go in a 3 inch barrel. Don't remember where I read it, and have no way to know if it's good info or not, but that is what I carry. I'm supprised none of the balistics gurus have weighed in on this yet.

Here are some links to threads which may be of interest:

Based on his wet-pack testing, "Flyandscuba" reports that he prefers 115-grain Speer Gold Dots for his R9.

I understand that Karl Rohrbaugh prefers Winchesterf Silver Tips.

I personally have come around to the "big-and-slow" school of thought and load 147-grain Remington Golden Saber BJHPs in my R9.

Reasonable minds differ on this subject.  8)

From Richard's first link above it would seem the 115 GDHPs are the way to go.
