Is anyone up on Sunday night? I am trying to reassemble my new R9 and can not get the slide go to all the way back. I'm sure I have the recoil system in correctly and the slide goes back until about half of the spring cup is still exposed. Then, something hits. Any suggestions???

good morning
any luck yet?
-
No... are you going to be the cavalry?
-
Well I don't know but I will try. Have you tried it with both the magizine in & out?
-
Thanks for trying to help. I ended up going to bed so did not reply again last night. The magazine is out.
I'll call Rohrbaugh this morning. I'll add to this thread once the solution is in-hand and let you know the outcome.

You might try adjusting the depth in the slide of the back of the recoil assembly.
Good luck!

I had to do some wiggle work the first time I put one back together. Don't fret to hard, once you "get it" you "got it".
Good luck!!!!!

Chinook:
You probably have reviewed the materials at these links, but if not they may be of help:

Just be patient. The first time reassembling the R9 can sometimes be tricky. After a while, it will become second nature.

This was very helpful. I wish I had seen it sooner. However, I called the factory this morning and was transferred to Carl Rohrbaugh directly. He walked me through several steps, much like the video. But something was definitely "bumping" (metal on metal). Carl was also concerned about my report that the trigger had initially stuck in the back position (this stopped after a little oil). Anyway, Carl asked me to return the gun to him for his inspection. I had mixed emotions about this; 1) I was starting to get attached to the little pup and did not want to let it go, 2) I'm sure it's something really silly and I'm going to feel like a dufus when the inspection is made, and 3) it costs 23 bucks to send it back (insured, or course), but 4) it will be nice to have the designer personally give it the once-over. Anyway, it's now "in the post".
In looking at the videos, two things come to mind. The outer recoil spring is said to have a front and back (close-coil and open-coil). I did not notice this with my spring and, when asked, Carl said there was no front or back. Also, I am very surprised that "smoothing" of the guide rod and end cap are suggested. Surely, with a gun of this cost, this smoothing would be taken care of at the factory.
It will be a week or so before I can report back. Thanks again for your help.
I remain,

Chinook,

The recoil spring has changed(I am still using old ones)So yours is probably different..(both ends same)
The "smoothing" that was done by Chris was his own "trick" for easier assembly..It is not a "reccommended" procedure..
Please let us know when you find out what is up..

OK, my "Pup" is back and looks as good as new. The report from Karl was that I did not have the spring assembly fully down. I knew that would be the outcome but try as I would, I just could not get it down.
Next time, I'm going to take a couple of macro photos of the spring assembly in its fully seated position before removing it from the slide. There are pictures in the instruction booklet and the videos help but I think a good digital macro picture that I can enlarge on my larger monitor will also help.
BTW, the service from everyone at Rohrbaugh was exemplary! Instant help is just a phone call away. What other gun company offers that??
Thanks again for everyones help,
James
