I've recently gone back to wearing a uniform. With that, my R9 has been sitting in the safe. So much so I forget to take it when out of uniform. The pants I have to wear don't allow for comfortable carry of my R9. I can't get a good grip on it. With two 1911s (Kimber Warrior and Kimber Ultra RCP II) I'm not at a loss for fire power but I do miss the little R9.
Perhaps I should look for a back pocket holster. Shirt holsters won't work since I wear a vest. I'm not too keen on the vest holsters. It would show.

If you wear a vest you might look into a decent IWB type holster. As thin as these R9's are I have no problem concealing one if I wear a shirt un-tucked, and I have a very thin build and it's fairly difficult for me to hide a gun on my build.

Jack, when in uniform, why can't you put the pup in your front pocket on the other side? Tom

It's the way the pockets are cut. For some reason the pocket narrows between the opening and the bottom. The grip portion sits right where it narrows preventing my hand from getting a good hold.

I carry my R9 in a back-pocket holster and wouldn't go anywhere without it.....no matter what else I'm carrying, too.
A friend of mine lamented that he was so enamored with the quaility and percision of his pup when he finally got it that he WON'T carry it for fear of putting a mark or two on it......I told him it only ads character. ;)

Jack, like RJ suggests, have your pockets custom made to carry. Good tailer/cleaners in HP. Tom

Go for an RJ Hedley Back Pocket.
I use one for duty carry and also a seperate mag holder in my front left pocket........
As we all know he makes one sweet holster 8)

Jack, are you in the Dallas area? I see Tom mentioned what I presume to be Highland Park. You can definitely find some good tailors and "old school" cleaners in that area.

Jetman, what brand and model IWB do you wear?

JB:
For several years now, I've been having a local seamstress customize the right-hand front pocket of nearly every pair of trousers I purchase in order to facilitate carrying a holstered pocket pistol. I have the pocket widened, deepened, and squared across the bottom using a heavier cotton fabric than used for the original pocket. The lady has become very good at the process, which she calls "making a holster holster."

My friend Richard has the Spirit. Your Pocket too small, fix it !
I bet if Pal Pal could do it, it would get done . ;D

I ended up taking my R9 into the local Gunshop and tested it's fit in several similar sized pistiols. I ended up finding a Galco suede holster made for a Kel Tec P3AT. It's a little snug but after breaking in a little it's a really good fit. I only paid $26 for it and I bought it to use while my Hidden Holster is made. The only real downside is it is slightly discoloring the G10 grips where it comes in contact with the suede, but it's not a major deal for a carry gun. It covers the trigger fine and it is a clip style holster that comes off/on the belt very easily. My pocket holster should be here by this time next week and I'll probably be doing some pocket carry with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. We're supposed to be getting new uniforms so I'll probably wait for that but I'm leaning more to a back pocket holster. Any suggestions as to where I can pick up a right handed Hedley?
Thanks
BTW- Not in the D area.

While cleaning the safe the other day I found the DeSantis Nemesis I first used to carry my R9. While it's no Del Fatti, it works in my uniform pants pocket.
Problem solved.
