RJ,
You seem to be quite knowledgeable about these pups. In your opinion, are the sights really necessary in this platform? I am looking for my first (a stealth) and am a bit unsure on the sights. Can you advise??
Thanks,
Marco

I would advise one to choose the pup with sights, a number of reasons.
Sights can be used or ignored.
Even If they are not dead on, they are a good reference.
Last but not least, re- sale value.
Not a very scientific answer, but a practical one.

Thanks, RJ! Much appreciated!

RJ,
Took your excellent advice and purchased my new R9 Stealth today to pick up tomorrow. Very excited? Four questions, please:
**Do I need to clean and lube the pistol before heading to the range like other pistols?
**What ammo do you recommend? What works best and what is best for self defense in this pup?
**Should I run various types of ammo through it during initial break-in?
**If I purchse a piece of PVC to assist field stripping this weapon, any idea on what diameter or size works?
RJ, thanks for your expertise!

Marco you can shoot right out of the box, BUT I always clean and lube all my new guns before shooting. I like to know that I know its not gunked up.
I use 115gr silvertips and 124gr gold dots for carry. I also use WWB at the range with no problems.
As far as various ammos its up to you. I had silvertips and gold dots when I got my first R9 and it liked them so I've stuck with them.
Don't know about the PVC, sorry.
Have fun and be safe
