Title: It's on it's way!!!
Post by: IUalum on December 18, 2008, 02:51:22 PM
I am new to the forum and now new to the club, I got a tracking number today and my new R9S will be here Monday!!!

Merry Christmas to me.  I'll post pics when it arrives.

Now to order a holster and some silvertips and.....any ideas?

What do I absolutely need to go with my new Rohrbaugh (I know, range time) but what else?

IUalum:

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on your new R9!

As for other "needed things," just visit the Rohrbaugh Store and pick out what appeals to you.  You might want to consider some spare grip screws and springs, plus some extra magazines.   8)

Congrats! I'm hoping to have my first Rohrbaugh Monday too. Left the dealer yesterday USPS Priority Mail which is a 2-3 day service. I ordered a holster from hidden holsters and they have taken real good care of me. I'm just waiting for them to finish it up. I ordered the holster a week or so back knowing I was going to buy one when I got the right price. Luckily my FFL set up an account with Rohrbaugh and got me one for a great price.

Cograts again! I'm looking forward to replacing the piece of junk Kel-Tec I was using for a backup weapon.

Thanks guys.  I am watching my tracking number carefully and it has been sitting in a FedEx warehouse for 24 hours now with no movement.  Hopefully it gets here Monday as scheduled.  I have ordered some silvertips and a nemesis poscket holster so far.  TDH, I have a Kel-Tec also and will probably keep mine just to show the difference.

I'll post back here when it arrived with pics.

OK, fedex tracking movement, it may actually get here Monday after all.  I was getting worried after reading posts about people getting empty boxes etc.

new to the club also and I have a 9s on the way. Should be here Tuesday.  One stupid question, what is the differance between the 9s and the 9?  Went to Rohrbaughs  website and didn't really get an answer. Thanks

Welcome to the club. The original R9 had no sights. It was point and shoot which serves some people quite well. Then they came out with the R9S, "S" for sights.

R9S has sights, R9 does not.

Congrats, on the new Rohrbaiugh, we all need to post pics when we get 'em

I had trouble figuring out which gun was which on the Rohrbaugh site, too.  I wasn't sure at first whether the S was for stealth or not.  I guess figuring it out is part of the fun.

Hope you get yours soon.  I picked mine up yesterday and can't wait to shoot it this weekend.

It came, yesterday to my FFL and I have only gotten to open the box and look it over.  I am impressed with the packaging, fit and finish, and the 3 included magazines.  If it shoots and performs as well as it looks so far I am going to be one happy guy.  I have some range time next week, I'll post pics and my rookie review then.

Merry Christmas to me   ;D and Happy Holidays to the forum!

Great news, happy for you.  My FFL just told me UPS ran and no gun.  He is tracking now and is open tommorow. Wish me luck.
Thanks to all the reading I have been doing in this forum I ordered a bunch of stuff form Rohrbaugh and others.  I might get something in my stocking if not the gun for Christmas.
Merry Christmas and thanks for the great info forum members!

Thanks Dino and I hope you get yours in time, what a great stocking stuffer!

Don't forget to post pics of all the "stuff" when it arrives.  So far I have some Winchester silvertips, screws and a spring and a holster on it's way.

Got it! Wife and son picked it up on the 24th and told the FFL to say it didn't come in.  Very nice, first time I saw one in person.  Will shoot it Sunday at the club and will have my son download some pics of it soon as I have no idea how to.

Dino- I shot it for the first time today, a brief session at my home range in the woods.  I have been shooting for a long time and I have to be honest, my first magazine with the pup did not even make it onto the target.  After a deep breath and a change in my sight picture I got all 6 on the paper plate at 7 yards.  The recoil is sharp but not as bad as my S&W 325 airweight in 45 ACP.  Everything I fed it, WWB, silvertips and hydroshoks all fed perfectly with no FTF.

I am a happy guy!

Bob, I found mine on gunbroker and paid $940 plus $20 shipping.  My local FFL gave me the transfer for free as a Christmas gift (I give him lots of business)!

Thanks and glad it shot so well, still waiting for a chance to shoot mine. Thanks for the ammo info I was hoping to use WWB  for the range and hydroshocks for carry. Did you buy it new?  What a deal!

I had to give $1250 for mine, but I did not shop at all, just wanted it bad for Christmas.

Dino-

It was sold to me as "new-in-box" from a dealer on gunbroker with good feedback.   I wonder if someone bought it or ordered it from them with an extra magazine and changed their mind.  It has no sign of wear or previous shooting so I guess it was technically new.  It came all nicely wrapped inside the box and had both the inner and outer box and all case candy included.   I had been watching pups on gunbroker for a couple of months and was "watching" this one.  It closed with no bids so I called the dealer and offered them the opening bid and they accepted it.  I got lucky I guess.

Enjoy yours, I am looking forward to hearing your opinon after you get a chance to shoot it.

Ok I finally shot it!  Two boxes of Gold Dot 115g and most of a box of Magtech 115g.  I figured if it ate Magtech it would eat anything.

The r9 does have a little bit of a bite, more than my 45acp 3" springfield Micro. But I loved everyshot of it.
One failure to feed when the mouth of the gold dot hollow point hung on the feed ramp.  However this was towards the end of about 60 rounds and I mixed my remaining gold dots in the mag with Magtech. (dirty trick i know).  Also my hand was sore by then and it could have been limp wrist.

Over all the gun shot well and was just a little low at 15 feet,  had to bring the front sight to it's base to get on center. Very happy I bought it!  Will send Pics when my son has time to show me how and my holsters come in.  :)

Dino:

Good report! Just keep the little masterpiece clean and well lubricated and it should serve you well.

I find that 60 rounds or so at a session with the R9 is about all my shooting hand will absorb without beginning to remind me of my limitations -- and, as Inspector Harold Francis "Dirty Harry" Callahan would say, "A man's got to know his limitations."   ;)

Yeah, I know what you mean the webbing between my thumb and index finger is sore today.  But I am still smiling at the fact that the gun shot so well.
To be honest after reading some of the stuff online about the r9 I was afraid of a bunch of FTF's and soft primer hits.
My primers were hit hard and the gun performed nicely.
Most of all I carry it where as I left my Springfield Micro at home a lot and felt under guned with my kel tec p32.

Thanks Richard, I really do shoot them all, a lot, so I don't think of them as my "collection".  I tell my friends I don't collect guns I shoot guns. More fun that way.

I have two sons 20 and 23 years of age and they love the sport as much as I do. We even get my wife and my sons girl friends to the range.  Share the sport!
