Title: Small letter "A" stamped on primers
Post by: DanR9SF on March 08, 2009, 09:07:00 AM
Yesterday at a gun show I picked up some 9mm and .380 ammunition - Speer Gold Dot.  It's not in a black box, it's in a gold box.

Both the 9mm 115 gr. GDHP and the .380 auto 90 gr. GDHP have a tiny "A" stamped on each primer.  I've never seen this before.

The boxes look new and in perfect condition.  Price was $30/50 rnds of 9mm, and $45/50 rnds of .380 auto.

There's nothing on the box to indicate that this ammunition is any different than the black box.  It's Made In USA.

What's up?  Being a gun show I have to wonder what it is I just purchased...

Dan:

That is Speer's primer stamp, as shown in this image from the AFTE Headstamp Gallery:

Thanks!  I've never noticed it before.
