Hello everyone, hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Quick question here , have any of you tried critical defence 115grain. ammo through the r9s?. I just bought some and wanted to get some advise before I use it in my Stealth. Thanks....Mick.

Mick,
Please review the discussion regarding CD ammo in the thread, "Non-Scientific ammo test." If you have any more questions, several of us can tell you what we know about it.

I like this ammo very much, and is now my primary SD round for the R9
-
I like it also but with S&B primers it is less than reliable in the R9 and not suitable for carry, in my opinion. The Hornady factory told me that they would continue to load those primers when others such as Winchester are not available.

Tracker, is dead on I took my R9s for its 1st outing today and 1/2 (14rds) of the CD all had hard primers resulting in FTF (fire) . The gun ate and had no issues with Federal, Gold Dots and WWB. This was familiar to me the only issues my LCP had were with CD .380 ammo hard primers, I cant trust the Hornady CD in my carry guns any more.

Hello fellas,
I just fired a box of Hornady CD FTX 115's today without incident. My gun is fresh out of the oven ( R4150 ) and has yet to fail me with any round I put through it. I was even able to recover one round, with the plastic insert still attached at the time. It detached after it was in my pocket, as I think it was just the dirt from the berme keeping it together. Here are some photos. Hope I did this right and they post, if not, the link should work...

How do you know which primer is which?. The box I bought all have copper colored primers .

The photos from the string of "Marine Ordnance" below are the best description of these S&B primers. Notice how the photos of CD show very flat unfired looking primers. Also, the fired cases look like fried eggs on the primer instead of the traditional distinct dimple. Check all
of the discussion from the thread of "Non-Scientific Ammo Test."
