I have a lot of this ammo, wondering if it's a little hot for the R9s? i've heard the european 9mm is generally hotter than here.

I like Sellier & Bellot ammo for general purpose range time, but do not know if it is a practical load for the R9.
The consensus on this forum varies as to bullet weight but there is general agreement as to which cartridges work best in the R9.
If it is a hot round, (like Fiocchi), I would not use it and would stick to premium domestic standard velocity.

The main problem with S&B is the possibility of hard primers, like a lot of foreign ammo.

I have had problems with S&B ammo on guns that were not nearly as sensitive as the Rohrbaugh. I won't buy it anymore, and I wouldn't recommend using it for a Rohrbaugh at all. My two cents... at least.

Kevin. Stick with the ammo that has been recommended here on the Forum. This will save you alot of grief.

Thanks all for your replies. I've been carrying GD's in what ever gun i carry so i have only to find 124's in standard pressure, I never thought to stock up on non +P GD's in 9mm.

Just got back from the range where I tried to fire Lellier & Bellot 9mm 115 gr. FMC. In 22 rounds I got 6 failed to fire. I gave the remaining 25 rounds away. The Gunsmith at the range, identified these as hard primer rounds and my experience bear this out. I should have read the forum before I bought the ammunition. :-[
I have put approximately 50 rounds of Magtech 9mm 115gr. through my R9 with good results. I have seen several recommendations for carry ammunition. Are there recommendations for a target round?

Welcome to the Forum steve_of_jackson. I can only recommend Winchester 115 gr. Silvertips as these were recommended to me in mid March of '09 here on the Forum. I have never had a problem of any kind, so never tried anything else. Some R9s are finiky about what they are fed, so when the Winchester Silvertips worked, I was a happy camper. I don't like failures of any type, and I don't have any.
I stocked up before they became scarce. I do have Gold Dots, Golden Sabres, Hornady Critical Defense, and WWB, as back ups, but now will never have to use them.
Find what your R9 likes and stick with it. It's better for the R9 and you.

Wise words from kjtrains. But, don't forget golden sabre and Hornady 147 grain. While I realize the 115 grain silvertip and others reign supreme, I like the 147 grain and have never had a problem. No FTF, FTE and I like the larger grain bullet, as I have stated on other strings in this forum.

+1 on the WWB. That's the round I use when available.
I've also had success with Federal practice stuff, but stay away from UMC, S&B, Wolf (the ranges around here forbid Wolf anyway.)
For carry I stick with Speer GDHP. I have fired enough Winchester Silvertips & Federal Personal Defense to feel comfortable carrying them if GDHP is unavailable. Hornady Critical Defense has been the subject of lots of commentary in other threads on this forum. I've fired about 7 magazines full over the past few months. 100% reliability BUT the primer strikes look a little funky from my R9s. Hornady CD ammo from the same boxes fired in my Ruger SR9 looks a little better, but the primer strikes do not look as "good" as other brands of ammo. I have a decent supply of the GDHP and Silvertips so I'll stay with them for now....

My R9s just hates the current Winchester White box 115gr ammunition. 20% FTE rate. I have 250 rounds if some one is interested. :-/

20% is unacceptable rate of failure. I prefer 147 grain premium ammo and have no problem. I will defer to those who may have more knowledge than me as to why you are experiencing these failures.
