Post by: birdman on November 10, 2009, 11:59:31 AM
I managed to score about 300 rds each of gold dot .380 and 9mm 115 gr. now what I really need is the tools to work with. Any info would sure be appreciated.  Thanks in advance. If anyone can supply answers it's all of you.       Gene

In truth, many R9 owners don't use anything more specialized than a pair of common vice grips, a wooden chopstick or plastic toothbrush handle, and a 1/16" brass punch.

Good luck to you!

Richard, thanks for the links, they pretty much fixed me up. I already have the 1/16 in hex key and the 1/16 in brass punch. Bought two of each from Brownell's. Onafile that fuse puller idea is wonderful! What a great and easy fix! Thanks again everyone.   Gene

Should you mess up your brass punch, and need to improvise, I picked up a pin vise, and some 1/16th" brass rod from the local hardware store.  I think those might be pretty easy to find.  I have decided that a pin vise is my new favorite tool...

I am only using a piece of rubber to help keep the slide back so I can remove the pin with an allen wrench

No other tools for me.  :o

Master the grip when holding the slide and all you will need is the straw to a WD-40 can, to punch out the pin, as you have seen in the video.
