Title: Takedown Tool is finished .
Post by: yankee2500 on April 06, 2010, 04:57:51 PM
The shop called and informed me the tools are finished, I will pick them up tomorrow or Fri. (probably Fri.) and ship on Monday to all who have made payment.

I have the shop making some of the R. J. Style takedown tool, they should be available sometime next week. They will be made from Brass so they will not mar your pup.
Let me know if you are interested in one, they will be $33 Shipped.

They should look like this, (I borrowed the pic) They are being modeled after an aluminum one, but as stated will be brass.

John,

If your takedown tools are as high quality as your mag extensions, everyone on this forum should order a set. If Karl Rohrbaugh ever gets his online store up, you should be the vendor of choice for both of these items. While I do enjoy the challenge of disassembly/assembly of my new R9s, I want a set ASAP! (I'm still looking around my basement for the original end cap that shot off who knows where!)

The tapered end is inserted to the appropriate depth between the barrel and slide to align the pin with the push out hole, and the other end is used to hold the spring assembly. I'm looking to see if I can find any old post with a pic.

Gene,
I'll let you know when it gets here. You will get the first one shipped.

Retired:

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on selecting the R9.

I think you will find the takedown tool (one of R. J. Hedley's many legacies to us all and now fortunately carried forward by John ("Yankee 2500")) to be a great help for you in the R9's disassembly/reassembly process. I certainly have found it so.

John,

I sent you a payment via PayPal this afternoon for 1 takedown tool. Thanks for making these up for everyone.

After playing with all the Rohrbaughs at the booth every year at the SHOT Show since the mid-90's, I finally picked up an early carbon fiber R9S last week, the magazine extensions arrived yesterday, and Robert's working on my Meco holsters--the plan's finally coming together! It's almost time to replace my .357 Sig Glock 33 after all these years.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim.  Congratulations on getting the early R9s and on the Meco holster.  Excellent plan, however, hope you don't part with the Glock 33 .357 Sig.  I have had one of these a few months now and like it a bunch.  Enjoy.    :)

Welcome to the forum Jim.  This article http://www.rohrbaughforum.com/ccm_r9.pdf says it first showed up at the shot show in 2002 but Karl did draw it out first on a napkin in 1995.  Congrats on the early pup and the MECO holster!!

John,

That's great news on the tools. Looking forward to receiving it.

Ccoorreeyy, I appreciate the article you posted--that was excellent stuff for the archives.

To clarify my comment for you, not meaning to mispeak concerning the company's timeline, I should have said I had been attending the SHOT Show myself since 1995 and had been fortunate to enjoy the Rohrbaughs on display every year they'd been exhibitors there. I didn't recall how many years it had actually been, but was thankful for each opportunity during those years to check the guns out in person there at the show.
